This is what I learned at AWA2016 (long list) (8)

This is what I learned at AWA2016 (long list)

How to earn the most with Facebook Ads:
First, make a list of at least 200 of your premium buyers. Not just your buyers in general: take only those persons who bought from you the most expensive products and who didn't return them. Upload them on Facebook as a custom audience. Then, build a 1% lookalike audience out of it. Facebook will take a look at 2000 data points for every person and will give you a huge list of persons who are very similar to your buyers list. That's the list of persons who is the most likely to buy from you.
Create a landing page and send those Facebook users to the landing page. Upload a Facebook remarketing pixel and a Google remarketing pixel on that landing page. Buy remarketing ads on Google and on Facebook for those who have visited your landing page.

Start one new campaign every day. The profit is in a large amount of campaigns.
Top affiliates often have 200+ campaigns running at the same time.
Start with 10$ per day per campain and let it run for 7 days. If you loose money, stop it. If you spend as much as you earn, narrow it down by gender, age, mobile vs. desktop, country, or region.
If it goes well, go from 10$ to 25$, to 50$, to 100$, to 250$, after each weeks.
Expect to see a decreasing ROI if the volume increases.
Go from 1% lookalike to 2%, to 3%, to 5% and finally try 10%.

Try video ads and text ads.
If you do a video ad, try to film it with a phone or ad a filter, to make it look less professional. That converts better. Always add a subtitle, because people often watch Facebook videos in public without sound.

You can send your traffic directly to a sales page, but that only works for some industries.
You can send your traffic to a squeeze page where you collect the email address first and you continue your marketing via an email sequence; that works for most.
You can also send your traffic to a 500 word advertorial page first, where you set a link to your offer page. If you do that, don't forget to start a remarketing campaign on Google and Facebook for that page.
Quizzes also work well for some products.

Track everything in a spreadsheet: name of the campaing, date, CTR, likes, shares, comments, sales, conversions.
The first sentence of the landing page should be the same of like the ad copy. This converts better.
Avoid the blue color in you picture (because FB is blue and your ad needs to stand out).

Use multiple traffic sourses (but only one traffic sourse per campaign): Facebook, Google Adwords, Youtube, Pinterest, Snapchat; Remarketing on those; advertorial networks like Taboola, Revcontent and Outbrain; also try other networks.
Email marketing with a valid email list (where users opted in themselves) also still works well. I recommend the "Product Launch Formula" and "Autoresponder Madness" for that, if you want to get the most out of it.

Selling through webinars: A webinar like the one at www.neilpatel.com can be extremely effective. Neil starts a webinar like that every 15min (on autopilot), he has a ~3.5% conversion rate, which means he earns ~35$ for every visitor of the webinar (the first half right after the webinar, the second half after a couple of follow up emails).

New blog strategy: You can build traffic by starting a blog. Write the blog about one specific topic and search for questions people are asking in forums. Or just go to www.answerthepublic.com to find related topics around a main question.
Answer those questions in a blog post each. Adding a "social locker" will give you a lot more shares, which will give you a higher SEO ranking immediately. A social locker is a plugin that gives the user something for free (any content upgrade, like a pdf or a spreadsheet) if they share your page. Also answer questions in forums and in Facebook groups, but really put a lot of effort into answering the question. Put your URL underneath you answer. This will give you a lot of traffic.

Another strategy is to build a lot of pages around the products you are selling. You can set up blog pages, testimonial pages, advertorials, faq pages, and any content websites that give value (information) to the user. For example, some of our affiliates (for language courses) have set up pages around the topic of "learning Swedish". They have created pages that give information about Sweden, about how you can learn Swedish the easy way; and they have created testimonial pages about the Swedish language course. And not only for learning Swedish; they have done it for all 80 other language courses that we sell as well.
Some affiliates get so much organic traffic like this that they have earned a nice automated monthly income for the last 10 years.

If you want to follow a strategy like that, just make sure to pick a company that will still be there in many years from now, because you will put a lot of effort into building those pages :-)
And if you make it right, it can generate a very lucrative passive income for years to come.

One goal for me at the Affiliate World conference was also to find new affiliates. We already had an affiliate program, but only in Germany.
Just 3 weeks ago, we started our affiliate program in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, UK, Sweden, Poland, Russia, Croatia, Lithuania and Greece. We will teach them exactly what they need to do to become successful, we give them a blog strategy, we even give them a (premium buyers) custom audience for Facebook (max. 3 affiliates per country) and we will work with them for many years. That's why it was easy finding new affilites at the conference (and we still have a few spots open: www.17min.net/awa/ ).

The conference delivered great content on stage, and I also got new ideas out of networking with other attendees in the evening.
The next one will be in Berlin in July 2017 (www.affiliateworldconferences.com) and I will definitively be there :-)

As someone who is just starting with FB, this is pure gold right here. Really makes me wish I could have attended.

Great post and great mind set.

there was some really gold nuggets in the panels from talking to affiliates.
cant wait to see the speeches online.

I definitely agree with your FB promotion method, and i think that once you feel comfortable (and earning some money) you can even multiple the amount of campaigns you are uploading every day.
Besides the obvious of bigger test budget you will need to be super organized and have the capability of controlling all the different campaigns and data.

learning how to utilize Excel will help you become better affiliate as this will allow you to view the inside and insights of all the Data.

looking forward to see you All in Berlin and in the meetups before the conference.

I also learned that when you ask your taxidriver to bring you to Chinatown, that he drops you off at the Sheraton

Thank you SO MUCH for posting your write up! I wasn't able to attend any of the speeches due to STM booth duty. This should hold me over until the videos come out.

Thanks again!
