Who Said Apps Are Dead? Apple's App Store Hits Monthly Revenue Record
November 2016 was a record breaker for Apple's app store sales, reaching it's highest monthly sales ever!
Sales estimates...
According to third-party app intelligence firm Sensor Tower, the App Store saw $1.74 billion in net revenue for November worldwide ($2.49 billion gross), compared with $1.71 billion net in October.

There are other interesting insights in this article as well...
And with the highly anticipated Nintendo game, Super Mario Run, hitting next month on December 15th for the steeper-than-usual price of $9.99 USD for the fully unlocked version, Apple is likely on track to top this November record at the end of the 2016 holidays, as well.
In October, app intelligence firm App Annie noted that China overtook the U.S. in App Store revenue for the first time, pulling in over $1.7 billion in Q3 2016, putting it ahead of the U.S. by 15+ percent. Presumably, that revenue growth trend continued into November, impacting App Store sales.
Long Live App Installs! haha

I've already told a few people who asked at AWA that apps are certainly not dead.
That said, they have still changed quite a bit so it's about adapting. Also, even if apps didn't get smaller, some other things got bigger, which makes apps look smaller. That's definitely the case with utilities from my experience.

Apps are not dead, there is just a shortage of apps that would do well with affiliate campaigns - I'm talking about broad appeal apps that take a lot of GEOs and have large caps/budgets
Apps in general are certainly growing as a biz segment, smartphone user base is still growing too.

Apps definitely are not dead.
Music is not dead.
Even the written word is not dead.
The structure of these industries have changed massively in the past 5 years, but people are consuming more games, music and content than ever before in history.

Everything is dead for someone who cannot make it work.
Its an endless circle.
Did you know that affiliate marketing is dead since 2008?
Well.. :-)
