Content Delivery Network, CDN, Cloud Benchmark Testing Results
frustrated at my server and inspired by these two posts

I went out and did some research... Here are some interesting things I found:
(Three different tests with a variety of service providers... The tables are sorted with the fastest on top and depending on the type of content you want to serve, you might want to go with a certain provider)

In the end, I still chose to setup an account with MaxCDN because like polarbacon said, it simple to use.
Note: these test results were ran on 10/18/2011 10:46 PDT. you can go and run your own tests on http://cloudharmony.com/benchmarks

awesome stats! i always recommend CloudFront, it's easier for me for some reason ;-P
Level3 smoked them all for the file size we use most. 
holy crap...
was just about to start my campaign so i went to check my site.
no images loaded. no javascript loaded. i was like, what is going on. checked one of my image links and got:

tried calling Toll Free: 1-877-MAXCDN1 (877-629-2361) --> "we are sorry, call cannot be completed as dialed". what on earth is going on...
their home page is displaying with errors as well:

Turn off adblockplus :-)
solved. this will probably help someone else using MAXCDN

Stephen G: this usually means that your server or hosting provider is blocking our conenctions
you would need to whitelist our edge ips
me: cause i am running advertising to it
now my users are seeing blank pages!
please help
Stephen G: yep, you will need to whitelist below ips in order for use to reverse proxy your origin

Stephen G: once you have added the above to your servers allowed whitelisted IPs the zone will start to work properly
you would send this to your hosting provider, whoever operatess your server administration

nope, we are a CDN so by its nature we are always up 100% of the time

Stephen G: each edge is a redundant failover for all the others
me: what is the advantage of maxcdn over cloudfront?
Stephen G: cheaper and faster
me: faster?
Stephen G: yes, we don't have the overhead issues that cloudfront has
me: cloudharmony testing showed cloudfront was faster for small files
oh, what overhead issues?
Stephen G: we can run more processes on each of our servers then cloudfront can
but biggest advantage is procing. Amazon forces you to have traffic on each of its locations, we only need US/EU to serve entire world.
we also run faster hardware while most of cloudfront uses vm instances, spun up from amazon ec2 virtual clusters
which is the extra cost to all cloudfront pricing

Stephen G: we talk with the owner of cloudharmony daily and from all of the global tests we are the fastest CDN as far as throughput, and only slightly compete with cotendo on latency is some cities around the orld
