Hello STM Family !
Firstly a big Thank You for all the AMAZING pieces of content across the forum. I have learnt so much in the past.

I have been mostly a lurker of the forums in the past , but have been consistently growing all the time in terms of mindset and knowledge.Now it's time to actively participate.I am REALLY determined to make this happen;not for the quick buck but for the person you got to be in order to reach those levels.
And to top it all the skills learned here can be leveraged to so many other places.
Just want to learn the art of creating a green campaign.Since we are in a place that allows us to scale really fast.I believe all we need to master is the art of creating a winning campaign. >30% ROI in a decent sized GEO

I decided to document my journey completely and learn together.
I thought of only Posting a Follow Along ONLY after I have taken some action.

Since I am really tight strapped for budget , I decided to focus only in tier-3 GEOs. And stay in them until i can make things work.
Traffic : Exoclick
Network: Mobidea (Big Thanks to Raul Correa , my AM ; for bearing with me)
GEOs : Russia,Kenya,Nigeria,Ivory Coast
Separated Campaigns by Carriers.


Offer:To Avoid testing Many offers , i am sending all banner clicks to Mobidea 'Smartlink'(Which rotates best offer on the backend).Mainly Adult Content Carrier Billing Offers.
Yet to hit a green campaign.But will stay in Mobile Adult until i master it.
Here's Blended stats for 2 weeks.

Cost : $560
Revenue :$230
ROI: -59%

Still in the process of collecting data.Can't really cut much now.The data is statistically significant but skewed.(Not exactly clearly visible goldmines)
Started RON campaigns but quickly Blacklisted the Cost Suckers without any conversions.

Primary Challenge : Getting over the fear of Losing Money . Because if the Money stops. My AM activities come to a halt.And i so don't want to stop AM.

Promise : I will try to keep this thread updated . As an Accountability measure.
Currently I am not a part of any mastermind. would Love to be in one though

Hi Ankish! Kudos for starting your follow-along - it takes courage to document what you're doing for all to see.

You've already collected enough data to be able to tell which of the 4 geos have/has potential. If cash is a problem, try to focus on the best geo(s)+carrier(s) for now instead of running all 4 at the same time.

Spend money on that best geo(s)+carrier(s) to identify the best offer(s), then cut placements.

Exoclick RON can be a huge money sucker depending on which geo and carrier you target. If you're getting a lot of traffic volume, try to cut placements aggressively from the start. You can always retest those placements once you've identified the best offer.

Question: I'm assuming you can see which offers have converted in Mobidea's stats? Would be difficult to optimize a camp if that wasn't possible. I'm asking because the smartlink or global rotator on some networks are blind - they won't tell you which offers have converted.


Why not make a post in the Masterminds section?

You could also wait until this follow-along has gained some momentum and is attracting attention, then start a mastermind thread and link back to this one. When people see that you're serious about the business, some of them will no doubt want to work with you.

Thanks a ton for your reply ! You are to be thanked the most for helping out with the tracking and everything right from 6WAMC .

I spent majority of Budget on one geo one carrier one placement ; Based on the Volume Available,hence potential.
And burst spent in the first 2 days to figure out what's the deal here.Others haven't really spent that much.Planning to stay in the big geo for a long time.So would be unwise i think to stop it.But All are showing near Equal Promise.
I'll be sure to cut them as soon as Possible .To take care of cashflow. Just didn't want to waste data collected.



The Rotator is blind in this case too.But i'll be sure to take care of transparency when it comes to the best converting offer.I am confident i'll get some help from Mobidea on that front.The Data I have will be relevant in any case.

Seems Definitely like a better strategy. Masterminds work best only if everyone brings something of Amazing value to the table.Better to wait some more time.


The Tour will be worth it if I could only meet you and get back.

AH right! I thought your username sounded familiar! We've had some interesting discussions in PM during the AMC didn't we? A very nice group of students in this recent round.

It would be good to check with Mobidea the first chance you get, to avoid disappointment. I've had networks tell me "sorry we can't reveal the offers that are run in the rotator".


That's so kind of you to say, and so humbling for me to hear.

Without members like yourself to sign up to STM and the AMC, I wouldn't be here. Magic happens when a group of people come together to collaborate on something. So a big thank you to you too for being a part of all of this.

I personally find the little toolbar at the top of the post to be enough. The annoying thing is uploading images as attachments - that's so hit-and-miss. Now I just upload them to imgur and post the bbcode links here. Easy peasy.

That article was actually very interesting. I knew that kind of thing was on the way but this just really put it all into perspective.

Anyway good luck with the journey. I think you picked a good starting route! I'm just starting to work with adult too and it looks like it can be very lucrative.

Congrats on your progress so far ankish

Mobidea is a solid partner to work with, I would also recomend to test kimia and brokerbabe, they are all similar in a way, but still showing different results in certain GEOs - certainly worth a split test. I think that all of them can also let you promote certain products/offers directly, so you don't have to use the smartlink only - there are some limitations thou, so consult this with your AMs.

As Amy already suggested, try to focus on a smaller audience for now in order to minimize costs - check the stats by browser, OS etc ... in many cases, cutting certain browser or OS can dramatically improve ROI.

One TIP, since you are using exoclick - you can now also block by zones too, in many cases there are several zones on the same site and only some of them perform poorly (footers for example).

I did set the Adult traffic Cheatsheet as my homepage. Double thumbs up.

Did Achieve STABLE $5-6/day profit for multiple campaigns. So yay!
GEO:Kenya,Ghana,Ivory Coast
Traffic:Exoclick

Continuing to Work with Smartlink for now , cause really small GEOs and I am getting great Conversion Rates.
But will be wary in Case a Geo/Carrier gets aggressive , I'll start testing Single Offers too.

Update : 1
I installed Voluum Between the Network and Exoclick.
Self Note - Never Ever Work without a tracker. I just bypassed it in the first few days to get started quickly. But it's absolutely Dumb to compare P/L by checking 2 tabs. IMPRACTICAL.

Will Test Kimia and Brokerbabe this week. Also active With Clickdealer , just didn't want to spread too thin due to limited budget.

Problem: Mostly when I cut segments (Device/os/zones)Aggressively , I am left with so little volume of traffic that the profits become very very small.
If I don't cut Aggressively , Losses add up very quickly.
Q-Is there Any way to get ALL the traffic for our selection in exoclick. I tried Bidding very high too.

Or is this going to be the case in small GEOs Always. Just Keep Aiming for "Small Pockets of Profit" that superaffiliates don't bother with. And then build way up from there

Q-Also is there any way to spy on Carrier Billing Offers. There isn't much to work with since Direct LInked.

Any Suggestions on where to go from here.Any SPECIFIC Points to Master Adult Traffic.What can be competitive edges in this traffic type.
I stopped Justifying to my myself , why I should continue in Adult. There's no point in Jumping to any other Traffic type.This WILL WORK.

Offer Payouts Start at their lowest. If I can just keep pushing at minimal or zero loss , Campaigns MAY get green overnight with a payout bump.

Hi Ankash, welcome to the wonderful world of adult mobile :-) What I think is very important to talk to Mobidea about what of the GEOs they can recommend that are stable. I had now a brief look into our own stats of the last 30 days compared to the average:
Russia eCPM daily +-15%
Nigeria -80% + 100 %
Cote Ivory +-20%
Kenya +-10%

Check with Raul how stable the markets are in there system and focus on that.... Nigeria is because of the ups and down super hard to optimise...
Also ask for special flows on certain targetings, maybe they have something sweet and also if some of the carriers allow aggressive landers.

I hated always landers for mobile billing offers but with all the regulations coming up on the billing pages I recommend them in some cases...

You wrote that you wanna test us this week as well, please add me then on Skype. Its national holiday this week and most affiliate managers are not on all day long....

When you're not making enough of the traffic profitable, it means one thing: Your funnel isn't good enough.

That means you'll need to test more banners and/or landers and/or offers.

Right now you're just using a smartlink - do you know what TYPES of offers are included? Adult dating? Vid subscriptions? I'm wondering what types of banners you're using as well, and how relevant they are for the offers that are in rotation.

I would DEFINITELY split-test the smartlink with individual offers. I just took a quick peek and there are several adult offers on Kimia for Ghana, and a couple for Kenya. They'd be good to test.

Good thing is, you're now down to maybe a handful of placements that are converting well in spite of an inferior funnel. So you can use them to do testing for cheap - although if you get impatient about testing speed, you can always re-introduce some of the placements you've cut previously, that had made some conversions and were not in major loss.

Once you know which offer converts well, you'll be able to tailor your creatives to that offer to increase CR.


I would focus on improving the funnel first.

Carrier traffic is harder to get volume for, compared to wifi which is available in abundance.

Tip: Try to either aim for bigger geos for more volume, OR the really small geos that have virtually no competition where you can hog all the traffic. Avoid geos that are not big AND have quite a lot of competition.

(My favorite example: I had a camp where I was targeting one carrier for one small geo on one traffic source and was making $40+/day in profits for weeks without intervention. The small geo only has 1.3 million population in total.)

It wouldn't be a bad idea to use your current geos to practice your testing and optimization skills, and then expand into other geos.


Yeah that's a tough one! Usually not possible unless you're either using an expensive service, or has a data plan with the carrier yourself. There was a discussion here:

Networks will sometimes provide screenshots. Kimia for example - scroll to the bottom of the offer description page and some offers will have a screenshot of the offer lander attached.


Finch and matuloo are experts on adult traffic - so seek out their posts.

AWA was a really good time.A little daunting though.

Ironically after returning from AWA , i stopped running campaigns actively , so data wasted .
No Idea when this Analysis Paralysis goes away

1 Vertical : Mobile Subscriptions (Carrier Billing) . Re-affirmed by Matuloo's green signal as it being easiest verticals to get into.

Update : Stopped using only the Smartlink . Found a converting offer .


Traffic: Exoclick (Only 300x100 Mobile Banners ). Pretty Clueless about the creatives used in other ad formats. Mobile IM,interstitial etc. Looking into it.
GEO : Portugal
Offer : Adult
Payout : 11$
Network : Mobidea

Banners: Generic Text banner variations , like "Are your 18 + Yes or no?"

Stats over past 2 days

300x100 is a good format, its most likely the most crap-free on exo, so stick to it.

Definitely test different banner types tho, screens from movies with a play button can work very well if you hit the right sequence. Doesnt even have to be animated.

Portugal can work well, just properly segment the carriers and check which ones work for you!

Keep going and don't give up. I have profitable campaigns like this running at exo at this very moment, you can do it too.

OP any update on this? You're targeting an approach that I'm also looking towards for my 1st campaign... very interested in the dating/adult vertical and I think everything you've done so far is on point. It's been great reading your actions so far & if you have any updates please share!

Hey Ankish, I'm almost on the same boat as you. Got started past week with Mobidea and exoclick. Tried single offer first with horrendous results, now I've launched a couple of campaigns with smartlinks, so wonder how it went for you.

BTW, I'm also interested in joining a mastermind, so if you did please let me know.
