Voluum and Applift playing nice together (26)

Voluum and Applift playing nice together

Normally no issues setting up tracking on various affiliate networks. But Applift uses a different backend than what I am used to.

Normally I take my postback URL
https://xxxxx.voluumtrk2.com/postbac...&txid=OPTIONAL

and turn it into

https://xxxxx.voluumtrk2.com/postback?cid=#s2#

While my offer links in Voluum look like
http://whateverthefuck.com/bunchofrandomshithere&s1={campaign.id}&s2={clickid }

However with applift, my conversions are registering properly in their interface, however they are not posting back to Voluum.

Anyone have any idea what is going on? Is their software sufficiently different from standard cake interface that I need to be formatting something different?

thanks!

When you log into Applift, beside the place where you can insert your postback, is there a list of tokens shown? If so, could you please post a screenshot of them here?

Thanks for the very fast reply Vortex!

Here is a screenshot of the page to enter the postback

The dropdown list simply says "postback URL", there is only one thing to select, so I have that selected

A full list of the list of things next to the entry box is below:
{offer_id} - ID of offer.
{offer_name} - Name of offer.
{offer_ref} - Reference ID for offer.
{goal_id} - ID of goal for offer.
{affiliate_id} - ID of affiliate.
{affiliate_name} - Company name of affiliate.
{affiliate_ref} - Reference ID for affiliate.
{source} - Source value specified in the tracking link.
{aff_sub} - Affiliate sub specified in the tracking link.
{aff_sub2} - Affiliate sub 2 specified in the tracking link.
{aff_sub3} - Affiliate sub 3 specified in the tracking link.
{aff_sub4} - Affiliate sub 4 specified in the tracking link.
{aff_sub5} - Affiliate sub 5 specified in the tracking link.
{offer_url_id} - ID of offer URL for offer.
{offer_file_id} - ID of creative file for offer.
{file_name} - Name of creative file for offer.
{advertiser_id} - ID of advertiser.
{advertiser_ref} - Reference ID for affiliate.
{adv_sub} - Advertiser sub specified in the conversion pixel / URL.
{transaction_id} - ID of the transaction for your network. Don't get confused with an ID an affiliate passes into aff_sub.
{session_ip} - IP address that started the tracking session.
{ip} - IP address that made the conversion request.
{date} - Current date of conversion formatted as YYYY-MM-DD.
{time} - Current time of conversion formatted as HH:MM:SS.
{datetime} - Current date and time of conversion formatted as YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.
{ran} - Randomly generated number.
{currency} - 3 digit currency abbreviated.

thanks for your help!

Ah OK thanks!

Instead of:

https://xxxxx.voluumtrk2.com/postback?cid=#s2#

You should put this:

https://xxxxx.voluumtrk2.com/postback?cid={aff_sub2}&payout={payout}

And instead of:

http://whateverthefuck.com/bunchofrandomshithere&s1={campaign.id}&s2={clickid }

Put this:

http://whateverthefuck.com/bunchofrandomshithere&aff_sub={campaign.id}&aff_su b2={clickid}

Should work! If it doesn't please let me know and I'll take another look.

(Note: Please take out the spaces - there's a glitch in the forum text formatting....)

You offer links in Voluum must be
http://whateverthefuck.com/bunchofrandomshithere&&aff_sub={campaign.id}&aff_s ub2={clickid}

s2s:
https://xxxxx.voluumtrk2.com/postback?cid={aff_sub2}&payout={payout}

Sorry, vortex very fast

Thanks Amy and il3n1n! I'll fix it and send another spurt of conversions and see if that fixes the issue!

Looks like we posted at the same time! Always nice to get additional validation.

We ARE a helpful community aren't we?

Thanks il3n1n (for the second time today).

Are the conversions I made able to be exported and manually uploaded in Voluum? or did my screw up destroy all data that would allow that?

You can manually upload any past conversions to Voluum:

Boy it's fun "chatting" in real-time!

Thanks Amy!

I know it is possible, I have done it with cake networks before, but Applift works a bit differently. I only seem to be able to get transaction ID, not click ID, so those do not upload into Voluum.

This is what the page looks like on Applift

This happened because you had the wrong link to the offer without clickid.
But... If you have not a lot of traffic, you can see from what user ip you have conversion and get clickid from Voluum by user ip (in LIVE click tab). The probability of success is very small, but maybe it will help you.

Any subsequent conversion must come right, if you changed offer URL as mentioned above.

So information on those conversions can be considered lost?

&aff_s ub2={clickid}
Voluum clickid you pass to Applift in variable aff_sub2.
So, You need to look Statistics by this parameter.

All conversions that you send to old link unfortunately lost.

The question here is: When you loaded the aff link into Voluum originally, did you append the clickid to it?

If not - then I believe all is lost.

(It looks like Affiliaxe is using the same platform - I just checked my stats on affiliaxe and Transaction ID is not the same as Voluum's ClickID. So if you didn't pass Voluum's ClickID in a subID appended to the aff link, then I don't know of any way to associate conversions with Voluum data.)

Thanks both of you! I was able to get IPs for conversions, but unfortunately the live event tab is a few hours out of date, so that won't work.

Luckily I only spent a few tens of dollars on this test.

Making newbie mistakes is unfortunately a mandatory part of the learning. Like you said, it's fortunate that it didn't cost you too much.

On the plus side: At least you know the offer converts!

Actually you made a good point: Can't you still match up the conversions based on IP? Even in spite of the delay?

Amy

How do you suggest doing that? I can find the IP that converted in my list of IPs in Voluum, however Voluum does not allow the ability to drill down IPs, so I don't know what placement, browser, geo, etc resulted in the conversions.

I can't (eg) drill down into browser either and then go for IP, as IP is not an option in the drilldown panel.

is there something I am missing?

Crap - nevermind. I was thinking you could maybe look up the IPs of each conversion in aff network stats, look for the same IP in voluum and look up the corresponding clickid, and do manual uploads that way. But you're right - voluum doesn't allow drilling down into IPs.

Oh well - at least it was just a few tens of dollars. Sorry for getting our hopes up!

no worries, thanks for all the help you gave to me tonight!

11-27-2016 05:56 PM #22 thedav (Member)

Change was made however conversions are still not posting back. I did exactly what you guys said to above.

11-27-2016 06:34 PM #23 il3n1n (Member)

Show stats from Applift and turn on aff_sub2.
If possible, show what offer link you set

11-27-2016 07:43 PM #24 vortex (Senior Moderator)

Sometimes there will be delays in posting back conversions.

Are you STILL not seeing them in Voluum?

When you check stats in Applift for aff_sub2, are you seeing the clickids there at least?

The conversions are now catching the sub IDs, but not posting back. I was able to manually upload them

The ones without subids were from the first test, before I changed link formatting as you both described.

Somebody private messaged me and said I had to get my postback approved, by my AM, so lets see if that worked.

Looks like I haven't run with enough aff networks! Cause I don't remember postbacks ever requiring AM approval.

At least now you've narrowed down the problem to the postback url itself. It's either wrong, or is just not being executed.

Do let us know either way so we could take another look if necessary.
