AWA 2016: Advice for Tourists: What to Wear in Thailand During the Mourning Period
Many people preparing a trip to Thailand may be confused about what to wear following the death of the King. There has been some misleading coverage and statements from international media about the subject. I’m Thai and want to clarify what is happening here and how it affects tourists.
Bars and restaurants are open. Alcohol is being served. Transport is all running normally, shopping malls and tourist attractions are open.
Wearing black or white
Many Thai people will be wearing black or white, but this isn’t mandatory. Tourists aren’t expected to dress in the same way as Thai people, but showing respect will be appreciated by locals.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me directly! .. Thanks for reading ;-)

Any must sees in Bangkok? I'll only be there for three days and would love to do a bit of sightseeing as well. What do the locals recommend?

I'm not a local, but I got advice/sources from locals and STM folks who've gone before when writing our guide - it's mostly about things to do around town (with the conference in mind):

That covers most of the must-see places (temples/massages/muay thai/nightlife), but it's a big city. What are you interested in? I dug up a lot of info while researching. Might be able to point you further in the right direction.

Cheers Raptorads! There has been a lot of miss information passed around recently making people think they will be arrested for wear blue socks, or looking at police offices lol.
All is calm in Bangkok! See you all next week!
