Bangkok Affiliate World Asia

I guess a lot of affiliate marketers will attend AWA for the first time this year. Does anybody have a guide regarding how to prepare for such a conference in order to get the max out of it? Veterans who have been there before, please share with us your past experience.

I've written some tips for my blog before AWE, and these tips certainly apply for AWA too:

Tip 1: Come a few days before the conference.
If you think you can get everything done during the conference days, you are fooling yourself. Come early, use the days to get used to the new time zone and rest after the trip. How can you be ready to take in any new info from talks and panels if you are half asleep? You should also keep in mind these days are often less busy for everyone else so you can use them for..

Tip 2: Have lunch/dinner/coffee with your top 5 connections in the industry
It’s not often that you have almost everyone in one place in such an industry. The days before the event are when you should have meetings with your best connections. If you don’t have at least 5 friends you can have valuable talks with, and would be willing to meet you, it means you are doing something wrong. Although the after-parties are fun, they are not the place where the most valuable information is exchanged. You are also surrounded by tons of other people. There’s plenty more information shared in a small group where everyone knows each other well compared to a big group where there are many new people.

Tip 3: Develop your EXISTING business relationships
Have 1 on 1 meetings with your account managers. The exhibition area really is for new accounts. Existing partners should have 1 on 1 meetings and discuss specific steps in their collaboration. Hit up your main traffic sources, affiliate networks and setup meetings. PREPARE for those meetings, have a written agenda for yourself, so you know what you want to achieve. You will get much higher ROI out of developing an already existing relationship than you will from going after the “shiny object” which is the next affiliate network or traffic source with the best offers, highest quality traffic, glitter, nyan cats, unicorns, and everything you can think of. The reality is that all can be very good if you know how to work with them.

We put together a huge guide for the conference: http://advidi.com/ultimate-guide-aff...-2016-bangkok/

It's not just about the conference - it's got a lot about Bangkok in general, though it was written specifically for AWAsia. It covers things to do in the area near the event, how to prepare for a visa/currency exchange, the best ways to get around, where to get a massage etc. I'd suggest checking it out first, then keep checking back here on the forums for meetup stuff. In the next couple weeks I'm sure there will be lots of updates
