What do I do when a traffic source asks for a tracking URL that gives a HTTP 200 OK response instead of redirecting?
I'm trying to get some mobile app install campaigns going, but the company I'm trying to buy traffic from doesn't accept tracking URLs which redirect to the play store, and only accepts URLs that respond with a HTTP 200 OK instead. They said I can generate my tracking URLs from platforms like Appsflyer, Kochava, MAT, etc.
This is because they don't want a browser window to open when a user clicks on the ad (which would take him out of the current app he's on). Instead they load the play store page in an app sheet and the tracking URL is just to pass values that we want to track like placement ID, device model, etc (similar to an impression tracking URL).
So for the app install pros in the forum, I have a few questions:
1) Is going direct with the advertiser my only option as they might be able to give me an Appsflyer tracking URL instead of an aff link?
2) If I am going direct, how challenging would it be to start working with large app companies that spend a lot on performance marketing?
3) Are there CPA networks that can help with a different tracking set up, so I don't have to go direct? FYI I can run large volumes if any network here thinks they can help.
Chime in with your ideas please!
