Some gaps in my understanding
Everything I've read before has followed the formula of building a niche website in order to funnel traffic to your email list where you can promote primarily Clickbank and Amazon products. Since joining a couple days ago I've been reading so much that I've fallen asleep at my desk woken back up and kept reading without walking away several times now. But I have seen barely anything regarding Clickbank, copywriting, email list building, Amazon, or building an authority site within a niche. Even when using the search function literally no results for these strategies will come up. There seems to be a huge focus on CPA offers, POF and the adult niche here as well as constantly starting and scrapping short term campaigns instead of a building a long term asset. Of course there is a reason for this. Is this more profitable?

It doesn't mean if it is more profitable or not, it may be just the focus of STM members.
They are more CPA related.
There are definitely some good threads about emails and copywriting as well.
You should check for posts of "johna5150" ie. John Alanis, who is a pro on copywriting and list building.

I really believe this is a big misconception running around. CPA campaigns can be a long term asset, or better said, a process to run CPA campaigns. The process itself is an asset, and the value of the company is in the numbers it can do.
I think a good analogy is with consulting companies... It's a form of marketing consulting and services company.
Aside from that, Erik's response clears up your question I think: Just the bigger focus of the forum's members but it's not the only thing one can do and learn about here.

Thank you I've been reading johna5150 and through his posts found _mcr_ both absolute genius. I hope to be them when I grow up. Are there any other users here you know of that are wizards of email marketing so I can go read all their posts?

_mcr_ was the second one, I just forget his username. Cannot remember others now, but you will definitely find some nuggets here and there while reading threads.
