How to troubleshoot and fix low traffic?

I'm bidding on some keywords that should definitely be sending some solid visitors...but they just aren't.

It seems I'm being outbid on them, or something. I really don't know. How do I go about figuring out why my keywords aren't sending any traffic and how do I fix it?

Bid more. Add more keywords.

What alexa rank do these keywords have and are you the top bidder?

Yep - as brock32 suggests -

1) make sure the targets you are bidding on get decent traffic using alexa, quantcast or google ad planner
2) check whether you top bidder
3) check whether there are subdomains that get the majority of the traffic (ie apps.facebook.com) and bid on those to see if you are first there as well
4) if your top bidder, and have targets with decent traffic -> check the domain variations (ie: amazon.co, amazon.c, amazon.)
5) check the domain and see whether it redirects to a subpage or whether there is a section of the site where people spend most of their time (ie amazon -> books -> amazon.co.uk/books)
6) move on and try other targets

if you know the target is converting, and you wanna get as much traffic as possible, start increasing your bid to see if you get more traffic.
