How Do You Create Your Banners??

Hey guys,

I'm fairly new to this and I hear a lot of photoshop but I never used it and to be honest don't have the desire to learn photoshop.

My go to tools are: Pixlr, Canva (great for banner design) and lots of cropping and pasting from screenshots, images and etc.

I would love to hear more ideas from you guys about the tools you use and had success with?

For me personally, photoshop is a mainstay and not just for the use off marketing, but just in general, me and my daughter both enjoy playing around with images etc.

Learning the basics of Ps doesn't take long and is quite simple to use as well.

I haven't used the others that you mentioned. But if their quicker and simpler to use and produce the results you want, then why not

Potatoshop. Er, I mean, Photoshop.

Canva's good but limited - I like it for social media pics more than banners, and that's really where their business is focused.

Pixlr likewise is good but limited. It's a cut-down, online Photoshop clone, basically.

Honestly I'd strongly recommend learning Photoshop. It's one of the few situations where a single tool really does have no credible competition whatsoever.

(Although I hear good things about a couple of the newer Mac graphics packages. Pixelmator in particular has good reviews. I use a PC, though, so haven't played with it yet.)

My vote goes to photoshop too, don't get scared by the complexity of the software, you don't need to become a pro-user, but it's always good to know the advanced tools are there in case you would ever need them. I think it's better to learn the basics with a tool that offers way more advanced stuff in case you ever decide to dive deeper into them, instead of learning how to work with something that you know has severe limitations.

If you only need to do basic stuff and you don't need pro features a photographer or visual designer need, Pixelmator will do an excellent job. I use it regularly and It's pretty good.

Hello!
I use photoshop, and for me this is the best choice. I recommend you to watch this beautiful tutorial from Amy: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...mplete-Newbies

You can also check out Sketch (https://www.sketchapp.com/) - it's hugely popular amongst professional designers nowadays. Mac only.

I'd say it's not as robust and complex as PS is, but it does have certain advantages that make it a top choice when it comes specifically to UI design - namely that it's much faster for you to design certain elements. The interface of Sketch is also much simpler and it's more focused on pointing and clicking rather than having to learn tons of shortcuts what goes where like in PS. I.e. should be a great tool to learn very quickly and it's more than good enough to make banners.

This is phenomenal!! I know I'm way too excited for this basic tutorial but it literally just cut my learning curve by a month at least And for that I THANK YOU!

What about landers and landing pages?? Would you say Dreamviewer or do you guys use basic HTML code? Or something else I don't know about??

Hey Denys, if you're still trying to learn photoshop, I have some video tutorials I downloaded a while back that teach the basics of photoshop CS6, stuff like selection, masking, colors, how to use all the different tools, and more basic stuff. DM me if you'd like to have them, I'll send em over your way.

As for the landers, I've used Adobe Muse before, don't know if you've heard of it. But I personally didn't like it. It adds excess code into your page that you don't even need. Even if it's for a simple one page lander, it will add stupid amounts of extra code in there that is useless.

Just to give you an idea of how much extra code Muse adds to your page, I created a one page lander on Muse, literally only an image on the left side of the page and text on the right side of the page, Muse used 3 CSS pages with over 300 lines of code for each file! Like 95% of the code was useless. I'd have to go in the code manually and remove the excess bits, it's fecking ridiculous!

I think just learning the basics of HTML & CSS and ripping landers from competitors would be a good start. Learning basics of JavaScript wouldn't hurt also as lots of LP's have JS code on them.

That's my 2 cents on that. But as always, wait for the STM pros to drop in and give you better answers.

I used a webdesigner but canva.com changed my life!
It allowed me to save one salary and time in explaination.

But that's true it has some limit. Hopefully i use Facebook Ads only.

@eurasianguru I've been using canva and picmonkey for banner ads. Do you use landers or direct link?

My preferred tool for creating landers these days is Visual Studio Code plus a decent framework ( Milligram is nice ).

You need to know HTML this way but it's surprisingly fast and looks good.

There's a video of me creating a mobile lander in 10 min using these tools - on mobile now so I can't find the link but if you click on my username you should be able to find it.

My designers use photoshop at bannerslanders

i used that as well, when i first started in this affiliate space many years ago (before any staff)

I use squeeze face as lander, i use FB ads only so i always optin my trafic via FB connect to ask a little engagement before showing the offer.
And i use this list to promote other offers.

To do that i use a little LP framework that i can customise with a little php config file for designing + Funnelflux and its multi variate testing function ( I LOVE IT!).
