I have an ecommerce store that sells a bunch of unrelated products in different categories. Currently, I am using just 1 facebook pixel for the entire site. However, since my pixel is gathering data for many different types of products in different niches, will it not be as effective?
For example, lets say I am getting conversions for women's beauty products and survival/camping gear. Since these are completely different demographics, will it be hard for the pixel to optimize for conversions since it is gathering conflicting data?
It will still work, but as you said it won't be as effective as creating custom conversions for each niche. It will still optimize and target people who buy products online, but you're better off create separate custom conversions for each niche.
From what I've researched, it looks like we can use the same pixel for everything, but then you can just create custom conversions to collect data on each product/niche you have. Can anyone confirm that this is correct?

The tutorial in this thread will show you exactly what to do.
It will work perfectly fine because you're going to use urls, strings, events, rules or a combination to isolate the users you want to retarget. Cheers
