Traffic Source Vs Verticals Vs Geographies

Hello Guys,

It's been more than a week that I have been a member of this great forum. The reading has been great so far and I have been learning a truck load of information every day. But so far, I have not been able to find a post which can provide details around which traffic source does well in which country and for which vertical.

Do we have something like this in this forum? If not then please let me know from where can I find out this information. I am particularly interested in knowing the data about each of the Geography so that I can dedicate my efforts for that Geography in my interest areas of Traffic Sources and Verticals.

I hope to launch a campaign soon and would post a follow along to get review comments from the experts in the group.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello,

the answer you are looking for doesn't exist, read this please : http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...5-ANY-VERTICAL I wrote it to help people understand why it's actually not possible to say thing A works in source A, and it's the same for GEOs.

But, there are specifics when it comes to GEOs and these directly influence what kind of offers there are for particular GEOs.

For example : pretty much everyone in USA has a credit card and is used to use it daily. So you will see a lot of CC submit offers for this GEO. Now take some country in Africa, CCs are not really popular over there but mobile phone penetration is pretty high already so you will see PIN submit offers for those GEO. On the other hand, there are no PIN submit offers for USA, because regulations made it impossible to run these in that GEO...

Then there are traffic sources that are specific to certain GEOs, take China as an example - facebook, youtube and many other huge sites are blocked there, but they have their own social networks ... so if you wanted to master that market, you'd need to get on their local sources. Also there is usually a local alternative to adwords in every country, with more or less volume, but it's also an option to consider. These are things you need to research on your own tho, because those who know these things about local markets will usually keep them a secret

Welcome to the forum btw
Matej.

Thanks Matej for a detailed reply. My above post was the result of confusion I had about Geographies as to how would a newbie know if a particular offer has takers in a particular Geo.

A quick question though, do you think Traffic Sources can provide this info?

Anyways, thanks again for your reply.

Thanks,
Anil

Offers will usually be limited to a specific geo or small group of geos, so that solves the question in that case.

However, sometimes they'll be open to a wide variety of geos. In that case, you can ask your affiliate manager where they're doing well (but bear in mind that might also mean there's a lot of competition there, and they may be saturated).

You can also ask your traffic source, but do bear in mind that they don't necessarily know where people are making money, just where they're spending it. (Also, obviously, they have a vested interest in getting you to spend money!)

Often, it's worth testing a wide offer in a geo where it hasn't been proven yet, because if you get it working there you have the advantage of a fresh market, for a while.

At the end of the day, a lot of this comes down to testing. Affiliate marketing is a partial information game: having information makes you money. So test to get that information, see what works, see what doesn't, and go from there.
