Anyone running CPI campaigns?

Hi Evyeryone,

I was wondering if anyone is doing CPI campaigns or used to?

Would love to get some tips/guidance regarding which traffic source to use, vertical to tackle, pre landers to use, GEOs or anything that comes up to mind?

Also, a simple "dont go there" would suffice....

Thanks Y'all

I've ran a fair share of CPI - utility android apps - assuming you mean Cost Per Install, these offers are also often called App Installs.

I see people still pushing these on POPs quite a lot and on mobile display too.

The basic rule with app installs is to either pick a very broad appeal app and promote it on general networks (pops, mobile DSPs) OR pick a source that offers very precise targeting (facebook) and go for niche apps.

Example of a broad appeal app would be a new browser, battery saving app etc ...
Niche app can be a game or a shopping app etc ...

I guess, let's specify more what you are after

yes I do mean Cost Per Install.

I have access to all sorts of CPI campaigns ranging from Utilities to games such as RPG's.
Was considering going for the latter in Geos such as China and Korea. Where would be a good place to buy and which strategy should i use?

Ok, China is huge so if you manage to crack the code there, you are all set

The problem is, China is a bit specific, they have their own search engines and a lot of traffic is to be found there. Of course, you can buy Chinese traffic on pretty much any traffic source but the market is a bit "closed" for the rest of the world, also when it comes to the best offers. At least that was the impression I got when trying to push app installs in China, which was more than a year ago ... maybe times have changed so definitely do your own research

Anyways, app installs are usually low payout offers, so you can approach these as any other offer in this price range, one of my strategies could work here too : http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...-of-my-methods

But since you said you would prefer to promote game apps, you will need to focus much more on targeting and the creative part - good/catchy ads and advanced LPs. Facebook would be good for this, but I think it's still blocked in China, isn't it?

Social networks are huge in China tho, so in case you can get on them ... no idea if it's possible tho, I have 0 experience with the Chinese market But some stats is here for example : https://www.statista.com/topics/1170...orks-in-china/

Maybe Korea would be better for your initial tests - make sure you get your creatives properly translated and try it there

Guess ill try KR first.

So you're saying only social traffic would work? any ad network that i should go to specifically? how about Go2mobi?

And yes, Facebook is still blocked in CN...

Nope, but social traffic is a good match because of the targeting. If you want to sell a game app, you need to target certain age and interest groups, and that's something you can do nicely with FB for example.

Go2mobi is used for app installs too, but I see people promoting mostly utility apps as they cater to a more broad audience and go2mobi doesn't offer any precise targeting options. You might also take a look at native networks, they do offer at least a basic level of interest targeting, check out revcontent for example.

Hi guys,

I've been through your conversations. Thanks for your tips!
Are you using landers to promote your CPI offers? If yes what kind of landers?

Thanks,

Ben

I did quite a lot of CPI with a directlink, but I would say that's no longer a viable option, now you need a very good LP to make it work. The type depends on the offer of course, but in any case, you need to push it on the edge - bold claims, scare tactics, scarcity statements, limited offers ... as much as the networks allow. Many guys who do CPI are cloaking and breaking every rule there is But careful here, advertisers are now requiring certain engagement/retention % in order to actually pay for the installs.

Hey Gents,

Im just about to launch some CPI myself, I will be running over FB as my apps are pretty targeted, up till now ive only really ran pops, redirects and banners on ad networks for mobile CPA, so even FB is a little new to me.

Can i just use the guides for FB and they will be applicable for CPI also? or is there any detailed posts on FB and CPI? or additional any info to the above that could help me?

Grateful for any replies!

Are people still making good money with utility apps?

I ran them last year and quite liked them but the constant KPI requirements made me give up on them.

So, anyone still running utility apps and want to share their experience?

Thanks.

Where are you guys getting your CPI offers from? A lot of the aff networks these days don't have them (or at least the ones I've asked) so I'm curious. Would be great if I could run them cause I kinda liked running them.

there are a lot of aff networks for CPI offers but the problem is the good ones all have daily caps or they are very strict with landingpages

And the KPIs on top of that ... if you don't meet them, they cut payments or refuse to pay at all. I gave up on CPI for the time being.

I was told that apps don't stay on the app store for a long time so camps are short lived.

Depending on the app and their business model ... if it's something crappy/shady, it will go down quickly. But some apps can definitely be on the stores for years. It also depends on what approach large affiliates take when promoting them ... aggressive landers with scare-tactics angles can definitely cause some heat for the app owners.

In general, Tier 1 is always a bundle of highly converting GEO's. As many said here, Go for Apps that appeal for most, Browsers, Cleaners mainly utilities.
Going to brands also can work quite well, Certain browsers for instance or familiar apps has more attraction power.

APK for Android for instance also can create a nice revenue stream.

We did a lot of A/B testing with prelander and without, and noticed that the results are much better with prelander.
for instance, you can check it out on Adplexity, the ones that are "You might have a virus" - Are working very well. Make sure it's legit and not using any type of scare tactics for the user.

So my tip: Go for utilities with prelander !

iStripper is, I think, the only adult affiliate program that offers a CPI commission. Up to 2$ for every free install of our App
