Best Way to Build the Minimum Viable Product Sales Funnel? And what traffic?

Hi all,

Have a new idea of a e-commerce product that I want to sell and so I want to construct a minimum viable product type of sales funnel (kind of like selling the goods before I actually stock/source them). Does anyone have a recommendation of the best/quick way to do it? I have experience with wordpress/woocommerce but not so much with Shopify so any insight would be appreciated.

Also what would be a good type of traffic to use as a test run? I was thinking pops (so I don't have to bother with banners) but then again pops don't seem ideal for e-commerce though..

Any other tips would be much appreciated. I'll definitely share my thoughts if I end up working on this.

Thanks,

SP

I have a Shopify store with fb for traffic atm. I think using Shopify is a lot easier than woocom, and i will try to integrate clickfunnels with an offer link that leads into a permalink of my shopify shopping cart. So maybe clickfunnels is what you're looking for.

Shopify is tremendously flexible - I really like it.

However, it's not really compatible with dry testing (testing the funnel with the intention to say "sorry, not in stock yet" at the end of the funnel - which I think is what you're wanting to do?) without some heavy CSS modification.

Honestly, for a dry test where you're not planning to take payment, a simple Wordpress or even flat HTML site is fine. Just make sure you've got a way to capture emails at the end of it!

It's hard to recommend a traffic source without knowing precisely what you're selling, but for products my first thought would normally be either Facebook or Adwords. If you give us more details on what you're planning we may be able to offer more precise recommendations.

Yes dry testing is what I'm looking to do.

The product is in the adult toys category though we haven't finalized it yet. And I don't intend to cloak so Facebook is out of the question I guess. I know Google allows it if I craft my wording carefully but I guess PPV seems like a good start?

Thanks all for the suggestion so far.

Ah, yeah, that does rather put Facebook out of the picture!

What about adult traffic sources? They'd seem like an obvious option to at least test. Also, targeted media buys might work well - depending on the niche you could buy ad space on forums, discussion pages or specialised social media sites catering to that particular interest.

For adult traffic sources would you test all types of ads or just be selective and targeted initially (assuming budget is the same) since for example my thoughts would be a pop up would yield poorer results due to its interruption nature than banners since this is a dry test e-commerce funnel.

Not sure if I am explaining myself well but in essence I want to maximize the probability that my test can find out whether my product is viable and not fall short because of my ads are bad and not converting. I don't expect this test to make money of course but to act as a proof of concept before I invest too much into this new idea.

Ah, I see, this is more a viability test?

In that case adult sources may not be your best bet. You'll need quite a lot of testing to achieve results.

It's hard to advise further without knowing what niche your adult products are in, although from what you're saying I'd lean toward trying to find a targeted media buy to test with.

Feel free to PM me with more info if you like, or post here if you feel comfortable with that, and we can continue to discuss!
