Hi Guys,
I am very new here, but I am putting any effort to become a decent affiliate marketer.
Many tutorials say to go for AdPlexity to get an idea of what works and what doesn't, or even better to rip landers. Many gurus such as The Angy Russian said that he "steals landers all the time" (http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...ng-Confessions). So, in my last campaign, I decided to rip some very popular landers from AdPlexity for the "win an iphone 6" campaign in France. The choice has been very easy: the first 500 landers are always the same: the popular spinner over the facebook background. The other one was a simple "quiz" lander.
Of course I tested them. Result: zero conversions for both. OK, I am a newbie and my campaign is probably flawed everywhere. But after that, I'm asking for your experience about ripping popular landers from adplexity.
Should I go for the most popular landers or not?
PRO: it's popular, it's proven to work (for others!)
CONS: it's so widespread that everyone knows it already. They are on every traffic source/geo/placement. Saturated.
What do you do? How do rip landers effectively?
Thank you!
Rip any lander that is getting the lions share of the traffic, initially you are trying to find the best offer anyway.
Once you find the best offer, go back to testing a few lander variations (big variations, as in style and not just headline, image etc) and throwing in a few of your own if you see promise.
Finding the best offer is the 80/20 of where your effort should be spent.
Hi,
thank you for your help!
I find that some offers already have their own pre-sale landers. For example, many "win an iphone" offers already have their own engaging "quiz" before the final form. Is there a way to bypass that to use my custom lander? Or am I able to use my ripped ones only with those offers that go straight to the data collection form?
Thank you!
The key is to rip landers in unsaturated niches
Every offer has some sort of pre-sale in place, don't worry about it and feel free to send traffic to it through your own landers anyways. I know it sounds weird sometimes, but its all about heating up the user so he is willing to subscribe. Some people simply react better when there are some obstacles to overcome
The situation you see in adplexity repeats itself with any top vertical, after some time everybody is running the same LP variation, then someone comes up with a new one and the crowd follows so few months later you see the same again. In case you can manage to be the innovator, you will obviously make a lot of money. Of course it's easier to be the ripping affiliate, but as you said yourself, you are fighting saturation then.
At the end of the day, right now it's more about the offers than landers. The landers work, users still respond well to them, but since the advertisers have to follow more rules now, some offers simply don't convert so good anymore.
In my opinion, speed is of the essence when it comes to running campaigns. You need to be running X number of campaigns to find that few gems, and thereafter scaling and focusing on those profitable campaigns. I use the 80/20 rule in general. 20% of your efforts will account for the majority of your performance.
If you are new to the industry, I would recommend starting off by ripping landers. A few reasons:
1. The landers in Adplexity are what's working, even though they are saturated. The landers will not be run for that long if they are no good. You can sort by a shorter time frame to see if they are still getting traffic and volume recently.
2. I agree that the one that makes a lander saturated (creator) will probably be profiting the most since he/she is "first to market". However, realistically, you got to look at your probability and time needed to be that creator. One got to be creative and understand the market well enough to be that guy. When I started out, I wanted to stay from the norm and create my own LPs. Reality: my ideas on what's good and working sucks. Haha.
3. Reiterating on my point above, speed is of the essence. There's a higher chance of finding green campaigns by launching 10 campaigns versus 5 campaigns. You would want to setup your campaign asap, get approval, and start getting enough data. Key is to find solid right traffic and placements for your campaigns. Get a verdict quick. Creatives can always be fine-tuned along the way.
Landers are important, but just a part of the overall picture. My best campaigns come from stolen modified landers.
