Starting with Native Ads (ripping the competition)

I decided to start this week with native ads. I will rip the best performing ads found from spying the competition (using Adplexity spy-tool).

I will start with the first two ads receiving most of the traffic. Limited the time range to the last week with offers running for more than 2 days. Two of the biggest ads are running a weightloss offer. I will use only two of the best creatives, since my budget is limited.

The weight loss offer is running from more than a month and still up, so we can say it’s a solid offer (we will need to do a lot of optimization after launching the campaign to get where the competition is right now). It is running mostly in latin countries.

The traffic is splited of ⅓ in desktop and the rest equally divided by Android tablets and iPads. And the ad is occurring more than 300 times daily.
The offer behind the ad is a direct link offer from Convert2Media (the.flatbellyovernight).

The ad is running almost in every traffic source specializied in Natives, but a large amount (79.1%) comes from Content.ad and 10.9% from MGID.

I will create those two ads in Content.ad and MGID and target just Desktop and Tablet. The ad is running as i direct link and that should work since the offer is a VSL, but i will split test with one of my old landing pages:

The funnel will split test one direct linking offer and one with the LP (will use the same funnel for Content.ad and MGID, since i can filter the stats by traffic source in my Funnel Flux intallation):

24h later
After the first 24h i got the first conversion from Content.ad traffic source. And nothing yet from MGID, mainly because the campaign spent just 1.77 in the first 24h.
Content.ad:

MGID:

This is the heatmap of the Content.ad funnel:

So we can see that the conversion came from the node with a landing page. Also after some drilldowns we can find that the conversion came from Ireland, from an android table, and the ad that converted was the one with the headline: “Do This Before Bed And You'll Never Need Gym or Diet”.

We are not going to change nothing yet since we have just one conversion, but we can say that this offer has some potential.

Great start antuen, it's a good thing you got that 1 conversion, it helps to cover the cost of testing, which is always nice Since it's just one conversion, it's really hard to do anything with it, but at least you see the offer is alive.

Looking forward to your progress.

Antuen, I applause your plan, quite nicely laid out. I would also suggest verifying the data on platform/geo/affiliate sources from adplexity with your AM, to ensure nothing gets out of your sight.

congratulations on taking action!

for curiosity, how much are you paying in content.ad? 193 clicks cost you 51$?

Cant say for sure the real cost of a single click cause is a multicountry campaign, but targeted tablets and desktops by $0.630 CPC

The offer was paused a couple of days ago (and i couldn't find the same offer from other Affilate Networks), but till then had a nice ROI (around 20%).
