Careful what you say on upwork.com (Account Suspended)

Yesterday I made an account on upwork trying to looking for a programmer. In the description I mentioned that "I am not looking for anyone from India, sorry". Couple of hours later I got an email saying account suspended due to discrimination.
AT first I was like WTF, but I guess I see their point as well.
But I have to say I was a bit surprised, with so much hate/racist comments on the internet you sometimes don't even realize.
Your thoughts?

P.S Yes I got my account back after saying it won't happen again.

This is the reason IMO, the level of hate/racism is at an all time high, measures will have to be taken to get this under control. Sometimes I just stand there in awe, when I see what some of the people I know are able to publicly post on facebook. Ever since the migrant crisis begun, it's just getting worse and worse.

In the project's advanced settings you can choose a "Preferred location" so just choose something like "North America" or "Western Europe". Generally you will not get so many low-quality people on Upwork as on Freelancer.com (which is much worse in fake bids than Upwork).

These marketplace websites have really bad customer support, they can suspend your account even though it has been verified before...
I actually got my account suspended because I complained to them that their website kept switching default language from English to another one and there was no way to disable it.

I told them something like that they are incompetent fucktards who cannot fix a single thing and they suspended my account and it took like two weeks before they unsuspended it.
But still it's quite good to manage working with people there because you have some control over them thanks to milestones, feedback etc...

I've been using Upwork, and the various sites it previously was before combined, for years. Never had any account suspensions and I've spent a lot of money on it. Just as with anything in business, you need to be professional in all manners and actions - just as you would have to be if a candidate was in front of you.

In addition to choosing my preferred geographic areas for service providers, in the body of my job postings - usually at the beginning but never in the title - I will state that "We prefer candidates from ABC and XYZ regions but all qualified candidates will be considered." And then I never pay attention to the applicates from india. I have found good providers from india before but you have to filter through 1000 of them to find the 1 good one. For graphic design its usually easy to find someone in india who is low cost and decent quality for smaller tasks. I never hire a developer/coder from India - lessons learned.
