What type of ads are these? Newbie question...

I'm fairly new, I just turned my first campaign profitable and just invested in Adplexity to start scalling out. While looking through the ads I came across these pages that I've attached below. Some of these will say something along the line of your phone has a virus etc.

When I visited the domain the sources that these ads were being ran on (through mobile emulator) these pages popped up automatically. My question is, do people run banner ads to these landing pages or is the landing page and actual ad ran as a pop up?

Both.

Some people are running these landing pages as popups/popunders.

Other people are running banners ads, and when visitors click on a banner, they're sent to the lander.

When you click on a lander in adplexity you'll see which traffic source it's being run at - whether it's a pop source or a display (banner) source.

BTW congrats again on your first profits! Just came from your other thread.

You're great! Thanks for the help, are they similar far as conversions or does one work better?

That's the darndest question to have to answer!

My answer: Would depend on way too many factors, and each situation will be different.

The main difference between display and pop is, of course, that pop doesn't require banners so there's one fewer things to deal with.

However, having banners can be an asset - it's an extra selling tool if you use the right angles.

In the end, only testing will tell.

In case you are only asking about the conversion rate, banner traffic will have higher CVR than POP traffic (generally speaking) - this comes from the nature of the traffic types.

You buy POPs in 1000s and send them all to the LP so it's nothing unusual to wait a few thousands of pops to see a single conversion.

While in case of banners, you will be sent banner clicks and the price for 10 banner clicks can be as high as for 1000 POPs in some GEOs. So to make the same revenue, the banner traffic has to convert at 1:10 while with POPs it would be 1:1000 for example.

Keep in mind that these are just numbers based on the total amount of clicks or POPs - what matters most is how much you spent for the traffic and how much you made from it. The CVR value itself is pretty much irrelevant in cases like this.
