Hi guys, jumping back into this after a 4+ year hiatus. I took a look at thedudeabides and Jennatalia's threads regarding YTZ and I've been trying to make it work for about 3 weeks now, and I'm struggling.
I thought it would be a good place to start so I can focus on building my skills on the traffic side before I dive into landers as well, but I'm not sure if this method is workable any more. So far, I'm running cheap international redirect traffic from Tonic (formerly DNTX) and pops from RTX (formerly 50onRed, what's with all the name changes??). Anyone still having any success with this without using any automation like Jennatalia? I'm not looking to get rich, just positive ROI to grow my skill set before moving into deeper waters. I can't seem to optimize to a point where I can get some positive ROI, although I am seeing some conversions.
People are still doing this, you can also try monetizer.com for this type of a campaign. To make money with this approach, you need to find very cheap traffic, placements that are overlooked from some reason but still offer decent quality. Or you need to come up with creatives that have mad CTR for example. There is little to none targeting in this approach so all that matters is the low price and the traffic must be real. I have a friend who makes low $XXX profit with this without doing any work, because he managed to find a few sources/placements that nobody buys from so he can bid the bare minimum. It will be gone tho as soon as someone else finds these. SO yes, it is still possible but you will have to run a shit ton of tests to locate that cheap but decent traffic.
Matuloo has given solid advice. "A few sources/placements that nobody buys from so he can bid the bare minimum" <--- You'll surely find your first success by testing unpopular geos on the large pop sources.
And DO test monetizer/afflow - you'll thank us later.
