I'm outing your (well my) LP (21)

I'm outing your (well my) LP

Now normally I wouldn't do this but this cat has some balls for sure, I'm assuming he must be overseas to go hard like this.

Either way, I was the first guy to run these almost three years ago after someone put up the first news page lander and I was playing with a lot of dirty ways to improve even more on the (then) super high conversion rate news pages were still getting.

I did a case study with it forever ago and frankly I expected to see a lot more of these over the years but only a few guys really ran them big time.

The reason I'm outing it is because I get this email from my girlfriend ten minutes ago:

Hey rob I came upon this unbelievable program it removed all my stress and
worries about the current economy. Im currently making $9k per month
working online about 2-3 hours per day and its risk free receiving the kit
which practically costs nothing

http://www.cnbc.com-org.us/?ReadNews=229774

This fool somehow hacked my girlfriends email (probably a silent exe she downloaded without knowing, or perhaps she just has one of the more common passwords like "password" on her email)

I was really proud of those landers back in the day, wouldn't have the guts to run them today but this guy is really going hard.

Anyway dick who's making shitloads of money thanks to me.... I'm a little jealous, that hack is sick.

Sincerely,

Wish I didn't live in the US so I could still run dirty pages.

Looks like a PKM affiliate. Surprise, surprise.

Looks like they're hosted on a Swedish web host (prq.se). As far as I know, DMCA requests don't go too far overseas... Seems like you can protect yourself just by using a domain registrar and web host offshore without having to risk your personal information being divulged?

10-10-2011 11:47 PM #4 m0thm4n (Member)

Surely you open yourself up to serious legal issues by spoofing a website like that?

10-10-2011 11:49 PM #5 peraction (Member)

Yeah I was using mediaon.com back in the day for all these, it's a bitch though because its not just the domain and hosting, you have to buy the traffic with offshore credentials, you have to have affiliate accounts in offshore companies, get paid offshore, etc. Any link back to you at all and you're fucked.

Whatever network that is, I'm sure they know that page is driving them traffic or it's them running it, either way not good unless they are live in Turkey of some shit. Good luck.

no offense but weren't you the guy who lol'd and said "affiliates who cant get profitsble without a fake news lander are funny" or something like that? i mean, i got mad respect for people like you, but thats pretty funny.

btw, those landers were pretty revolutionary. i cant believe they took that long for those landers to hit the mainstream

no hate intended. just trying to stir shit up a bit and make it a good thread

I had a convo with an advertiser at ASE about guys doing that stuff.....she told me the chargebacks were 90%.....and they were actively booting people doing that....

most of the data capture is done thru the Fb graph api.....kind why they are locking down apps more and more.....and last I knew FB is actively going after that type of stuff hard.....in no way is it worth the risk.....

Wow thats really nicely done.. one question tho, how did they do this: http://www.cnbc.com-org.us/

like the .com-.org/us? i dont get why or how thats being done.. never really seen that..

10-11-2011 01:02 AM #9 corp (Member)

Really? You've never seen that? It's as simple as registering com-org.us and then adding a subdomain.

10-11-2011 01:04 AM #10 maynzie (Moderator)

oh fizz couldnt CNBC sue your arse for millions on that?

10-11-2011 01:16 AM #11 eliquid (Member)

Im not the guy that started the news landers ( though I know who did ), but I am the guy that started the whole acai+colon ( 2 product ) fake blog shit over when I worked at MediaTrust ( Was Advaliant ).

This style of news lander even impressed the shit out of me

10-11-2011 01:37 AM #12 theguvna ()

I dont think advertorials are revolutionary, theyre pretty old school.... Lol but this style is more than an advertorial, its a brass balled site rip. Well played, ballsy for sure.

I wonder if INTERNET.BS.CORP stands for "Internet Bullshit Corporation"

Damn I ran some shady landers in the past but I drew the line at shit like this, rachel rays blog, and Dr Oz's resveratrol.

You can make money without resorting a race to the bottom mentality, its really up to you. Make a lot of money now, or make money over time.

It sure would be nice to make $50k a day with some shady lander, but if you think about it the consumer is greatly damaged because of how shady the article is influencing their decision. Along with the shady lander, there is a high risk with being sued by the FTC and millions more than the $ generated.

Personally, I wouldn't do shady stuff like this. I have to admit, very creative though!

Yeah I did say that and meant it. I created the spoofed brand site a few years ago, not yesterday and its been almost two years since I ran one. I quit before the FTC had to tell me to, and when I was still able to bank tens of thousands in profit per day.

I made all the money I need from shady offers and landers and am very lucky to have gotten away with it before FTC action started. I walked away when the money was still unbelievable and nobody was getting sued and shifted my focus to long term avenues without the potential for such scrutiny.

Shady as it is, I am kind of proud I got to influence a couple of things that helped change the game for some affiliates, btw People magazine spoofs MURDER IT for diet lol, just sayin.

from a technical perspective -> nice one!!!

I ran offers of these type a few years back, and it was profitable but short lived for me. Even though it was hosted on offshore, the host must have had someone really put some pressure on them because one day i woke up and found out my hosting account with them was suspended for the content breaching terms of service.

I was using an imitation of TMZ.com (completely ripped their sites pages and modified them)
with with pics of smiling celebrities and text "interviews" with them explaining how they get their teeth so white before their appearances lol (was pushing teeth whitener re-bills)

if peraction is who i think he is, then i credit him for me knowing about these pages, because i first learned of them from one of his postings on a paid marketing forum a few years ago

yea I remember seeing the fake gossip/people.com style sites. that looked like it would convert amazing but I never had the balls to run any of that stuff personally. You're pretty lucky you got away with it so props for winnin lol.

@theguvna the reason I say revolutionary is because they were the first to hit the web. And it definitely hit the web pretty hard. Super hard. As I read more and more old school direct response books, I can tell whoever started them was reading the same material and it must have just clicked and decided to replicate it online.
