Could use help and tips on s specific campaign
Hi All,
Been running an adult dating campaign on Exoclick for ES for a few days now. pretty far from being profitable but not TOO far...
I'm using 300x250 banners while testing a few. managed to get the Banner CTR at around %0.5 and the my two prelanders at around %10 on average.
Spending around $70 a day and getting 5 conversion which makes my eCPA at $14 and I want to get it $3 eCPA. I totally believe thats doable here.
Managed to get a CPM budget so I'm pretty free to explore which i have indeed been doing. but when it comes to optimizing i think i have a problem:
I'm currently targeting all premium sites so im getting a lot of zones that dont have a lot of spent and not enough zones with enough spent to have conclusive results.
So My question is, should I target all of Exoclick's Premium sites? Or should i Just target specific sites and eliminate zones as i go?
Would love to get any insights/Tips that are not necessarily connected to my question...

Ok, I see you already started this thread so let me give you a few tips
First of all, the banner CTR looks good, 0.5% is solid for a dating banner.
The problem is the LP CTR, you need to get it up.
I need one more thing from you : is this mobile or desktop traffic? LP CTR is usually lower with mobile traffic, but 10% is still too low. For mobile traffic, you need at least 20%, with desktop it's 30%+ ... anything less than that and it becomes hard to profit.
When targeting premium placements, it's good to pick a few, in some cases just one - when it's as huge as xhamster for example. In case you are mixing them, make sure that you at least target the same TYPE of zones - for example NTV - do not mix footers, in-video and NTV in one campaign for example.
I would also like to hear about the rest of your setup :
- what bidding method are you using? CMP, smart CPM ...
- are you using impressions cap
- what kinda traffic is it, desktop/mobile/tablet ... wifi/carrier ... what OS etc ... are you doing any targeting at all?
Gimme more information so I can assist you better

Wow super fast Matuloo!
Ok here its is:
- It's mobile traffic. What do you think i can do to Raise the LP CTR? just try different angles? I have days of close %17... Which angle you think might work in such campaigns?
- Not mixing placements? thats priceless... up until now in this campaign (and actually all of them) i have just selected the option to run on all the premium sites so i guess thats the worst ah? do you think i should create new campaigns or just fix the existing one? maybe one with one site and another with a few others?
- I'm using a CPM method.
- If by impression cap you mean frequency cap then yes. I'm doing a 1 in 24 hours cap. If thats not what you mean please enlighten me...
- Its mobile traffic. All browsers. ALL and only mobile OS and devices (including tablet).
Please keep asking me questions!

Oki dokie
I thought it would be mobile since the banner CTR was so high, it's always the case due to unintentional clicks % that is always higher on mobile compared to desktop.
LP CTR on mobile traffic will always be lower, it's also connected with the unintentional clicks and you can't really do anything about it. You can still improve it thou :
- check the LP on various devices or at least emulators - does it load properly on all? Is the design responsive?
- flip the device, how does it look now?
- run some speed checks, fast loading times are more important on mobile traffic.
- where is your CTA button? Does it fit on the screen or you have to scroll down for it? Must be above the fold

- change the females, make sure images look good when resized by the browsers.
As for the mixed placements, you can take several approaches and it's up to you to decide what to do next. You can obviously "fix" the existing campaign, pick a limited number of same type placements and target just those. You can also try to run on a single mega spot. You can also make several camps and run them at the same time. If it was up to me, I would pick 5-10 medium sized zones and target those in one campaign - this should give you enough volume and it's not much of a mix so it's still quite easy to analyze data. Don't miss the option to bid separately for each zone now.
Forget CPM and use SMART CPM only, with CPM you are overpaying.
Cap, yup 1/24 is good to start with.
Smartphones and tablets perform quite differently, many offers also don't accept both at the same time, ask your AM about it. It would be wise to target each of them in a separate campaign.
It's ok to target "ALL" for now, once you have some data start looking for the worst budget drainers and cut them. You can use this guide of mine for inspiration on how to do that :

Keep the questions coming

The answer is positive on all of those. I guess i could change the female images a bit... also, could you recommended a good emulator?

Do it, the female can make or break your campaign. As for the emulator - I use a browser plugin, I picked the highest rated one and it does the job well. On top of that, I have a coder who takes care of this for me, so I don't bother with it much.

Depends on the top bid actually. Usually you don't want to be the top bidder as that will be too expensive. But you don't want to be one of the last ones either, as that equals to low quality traffic on exo. Check what the top bid is and bid 10-20% below it and let it run for a while. You will need to learn how to work the bids which can only be achieved by testing various levels and watching the effect it has on the CVR and CTR.
You can also start with the low bid strategy but you are risking that your campaign will be flooded with low quality clicks that won't convert. And as you can't optimize anything without conversions, it might be better to start with higher bid, take the loss but get conversions flowing. It also depends on what your budget allows.

Together networks (casual_dating_offers) have decent dating offers and it's a direct advertiser but I'm not sure it's a good idea to go direct while you are new. You will run into quality issues soon, practice with AFF networks first and then move to direct advertisers if you want to.

It's not legal to use pics you find with google or with any other tool. However, everybody is doing it

The risk of getting into trouble is very small, but it's still there, thou I don't think I know an affiliate who would get into trouble because of this.
You can also purchase photo content with a license, the prices are not so high to be honest.

Hello,
all the targets are negative and quite a lot, so cutting something or targeting just something is not gonna solve your problem
You simply need to improve the funnel first. Test more LPs, test more banners, test more offers.
I know its tempting to focus on carrier traffic only for example, but even that is greatly negative, so what's the point? You will lower the volume and you will still be loosing $.
Dating is not easy, you gotta test a lot to find something that works. There is one variable that is overlooked quite often - offers have several urls and they don't convert the same, try to test the other ones too.
The most important factor when it comes to banners is the female on it, test a ton of them to find the right one.
And the offers - without the right offer, you have no chance. When I first started with adult dating, I had to change a lot of them to finally find one that worked.
Don't be afraid to test, that's the only way to make it.
