Hey everyone,
I've created a company for my affiliate business and I'm now in the process of creating accounts to start working, mainly affiliate networks, traffic sources and resources like tracking, spying, etc. I've got what might be a really stupid question but I'll ask for your wisdom anyhow.
So let's say my company is Awsome Company Inc. and I'm John Owner. It's just me right now but I'd like to build a team in the future, so I'd like to create all the accounts in the name of the company. Now when I have to fill up the registration forms comes the question:
The registration forms vary a bit, but they usually ask for Full Name, Email and Company Name. If I want the account to be a business account can I use the company also as name? Or is that a bad practice or weird? It feels like if I use my name I'm not making a company account, but John's account from Awsome Company Inc. If I use the company name it feels redundant but makes more sense to me, like:
Name: Awsome
Last Name: Company Inc.
Company: Awsome Company Inc.
Will the networks frown upon this? Do they care? I'm referring mainly to affiliate networks and traffic sources here, since they have to approve your account and what not.
What do you think?
No it's your name, because you're representing your company.
Usually they also have a dropdown where you select "role", i.e. manager.
So for me, when I open accounts I use my first name and last name, then my company name inc as company.
I've done both in the past, especially when working with networks that used to pay by check, I simply didn't want my name written on the checks along with the company name as it confused the banking staff (many saw a check for the first time when I showed up with it) - and the networks didn't seem to care at all.
But honestly, there is no reason to not use your name, the company is yours and they are basically just asking for a contact person with that "name" field. As long as there is a field for company name as well, don't worry and type in your name too.
Thanks for the replies guys, appreciate it. Will use my name then.
