I have a list, any email experts want to do a revshare?

Hi

I have a list of 50k, all are users of a paid service I provide.
It's accumulated since around 2010 and I have never sent them an email, all because I know nothing about monetizing email lists.

If you live and breathe email and can turn email lists into gold, would you be interested in running some campaigns on my list and we do a revshare agreement?

Note that I don't want to just spam them with offers, I want the offers we send are relevant to them, but before we even do that, we need to build up trusts and relationships with them through some warm up introductions.

PM me if you're interested

Hi MrT, instead of doing a revshare I would suggest to make an account with mailchimp and send out your first dedicated email newsletter with ads targeted to your audience. After one or two mailings you will get a feel of the value of the list without giving away 50% of your profits. Mailchimp has a price tag as well but for a relatively small list (50K) it is very cheap and it guarantuees inbox delivery as well so your emails don't end up in spam.

Thanks Christoph

I'm ok with the technical side of things, and should be able to setup the mailers, but my weakness is in marketing and writing. I'm doubtful I'll be able to write anything appealing enough to get the most out of the list, and not sound like I'm spamming them.

My thinking is even if I did everything myself, and keep 100% of whatever it makes, someone with expertise in the area could make 2 or 3 times more than what I could, so in reality, I won't be losing out by much...

Or am I over-thinking?

Most advertisers have their own email creatives. Ask them to send over their best 2 creatives and A/B test each on 25K. Mailchimp is easy like a sunday morning.

It is better to start on your own as the list is small and you should not have any problems. Content and marketing can be learned along the way, interact with your audience and feel them.

Ask questions and surveys in your mailing.

Understand their problems and then pitch for solutions. For content marketing and emailing there are lot of blogs you can subscribe to.

I would suggest frank kern and Ramit Sethi, subscribe to them and read every email they send.

You can learn a lot by being their subscribers.

Well even before that you need to make sure you have their consent to receive offers. Especially in the US, the penalties for CAN-SPAM violations can be draconian, and getting caught in that can make you regret even sending out a single email.

Secondly, 50K is actually a really small list in the big scheme of things. A lot will depend on the product and its relevance to the list, but at typical open rates, typical ctrs, and typical cvrs and typical payouts for affiliate type offers, you are only looking at a small handful of conversions which--while better than nothing--may not be worth the time for you or your JV partner.

With mass email marketing, as a standard rule of thumb use 10% open rate and 10% CTR (click-from-open) in your calculations. Then indeed 50K will only result in 500 clicks. The CR and money you'll make make varies offer by offer and depends on the payout per conversion.
