Tried to scale but everything collapsed. Any suggestions?

Ciao guys.

Yesterday I made some adjustments to a camp I'm running and CR went to the roof from 3% to 10%. So I said: let's try to scale this up!

I raised the CPC from 40 to 60 cents and the daily budget from 100$ to 800$ but then everything collapsed:

0 conversions from then on, lots of traffic but no conversions and I got from green to red in a matter of hours. From 94% ROI to -40%.

What do you think I did wrong? I'm running on Content.ad by the way.

Thank you!

Check your tracker for bad widget_ids with high clicks and no/low CTR

My bet would be you started getting traffic from one or more new placements that don't convert and ate all your budget. Look at that first...

Thanks guys. I checked for this. I'm on this campaign for a while now and I blacklisted a lot of IDs about 150. That's why I thought it was the time to scale.

You tried to scale too fast and changed too many variables at the same time.

You made creative changes, saw it explode (or appear to), changed your bid, and opened out the budget. All within 24 hours. You didn't even have a full day of data so you could properly see what happened!
You don't know if it was just luck, which can happen on higher payouts at lower volume - especially if your daily budget was only $100, or if your CTR/bid was in the sweet spot for their algorithm that day, or if the planets aligned in just the right spot, or if your deity of choice happened to be diggin you at that moment.

I would suggest rolling all your changes back, see if you can get it to stabilize for a few days at the original budget and bid. Then do one thing at a time - increase the budget first, wait a day or two to see if performance holds... then you can start thinking about increasing the bid.

Thanks man. Started to think this way today when traffic stopped. I got back from square one and rolled out things again. I'll remember this next time.

Did you keep your banner and lander the same?

I would switch back to the old set up and then see if you get back to old levels. Also, are you sure your tracking is still working as this all to nothing drop is amazing

Do you mean the same as when things started to go up? If so yes they are the same. Yes my tracking's working properly, double checked things many times to see if it something was missed but everything was fine.

Put it back at 40c and 100$ a day and see what happens. Same targeting, creatives and landers as before.

Last couple of days I'm at 0. But one thing to notice: the data so far tell me this particular campaign converts best on weekends, so I stopped it and I'll resume it on saturday. Let's see.
