I'm in the process of preparing the 2016/2017 "What's Working Now" guide, and I thought I'd do something extra this year.
As well as the usual ways I prepare the "What's Working Well" guide (from my own observations and from conversations with the STM team and other top-level affiliates), this year I'm going to run a poll of sorts!
So, I'd love to hear from all of you in the STM community - what vertical are you currently in with your affiliate work, and how do you feel that vertical is right now?
Is it good, bad, average? Shrinking, expanding? Are you thinking of moving to another vertical or loving the one you're in?
(It'd also be helpful if you can give some indication of how experienced you are as an affiliate - have you hit profit yet, have you been working in this vertical for 2 decades, etc.)
Looking forward to reading your answers!
Apps:
Still killing it. Utility apps, branded apps (like Uber), gambling/casino related apps. In a broad range of GEOs.
I'm not sure why there was talk a few months back about the app space being all doom and gloom.
Sweepstakes:
iPhone 6/Giftcard giveaway offers (both lead gen and pin submits). Certified killing it status. US, GB, AU still holding strong. It's getting tougher, but new interesting GEOs like Thailand, Brazil, United Arab Emirates are doing really well.
My feedback is based on us doing at least mid XX,XXX/day on each niche this month.
Thanks Mr Green- always good to get confirmation that my chosen vertical can be scaled to 'Certified Killing it Status' (I'm going to start using CKS as a reference code for all of my top campaigns now
).
Noob question- when you say XX,XXX/day- you mean this much profit/day?
*Ecommerce (individual products)
This vertical killing it at the moment, I'm talking about individual and white hat products like TrackR and Flashlight... especially in USA, EU and LATAM!
*Sweepstakes (SOI and CC Submit)
Definitely still doing it!
*Bizopp
It's no secret that bizopp is flying - especially the trial offers.
Binary and pin submits ---> FB. X.XXX/day
Mobile Subscription Services Mainstream Games, Antivirus is working for us since couple of years.
New Countries are coming - Still solid way to make money with quite low risk of low quality and fraud!
Dating CPL Offers are a evergreens - social traffic, email rocks - still growing since day one!
We still do some adult dating, it's not so hot anymore but yeah, there is still money in it. This is one of the ever green verticals too, it can go up and then down, but it's been here since like forever so I guess it's here to stay for some more
Then PIN submit offers, both adult and mainstream - I'm not too happy about the regulations, but it's still alive - I think this vertical will get harder in the next years tho, the regulations will only get stricter. There is still enough unsaturated GEOs so I think it will stay around for a while too
So basically, sky is NOT falling yet
I'm relatively new to mobile AM (but some prior AM experience) and just hit my first $200/day a few days ago and averaging ~$150 with app installs.
Previously I was trying to make traction with sweeps and hadn't had any successful campaigns until testing app installs.
Great stuff! Thanks to everyone who has responded so far.
Keep 'em coming!
I work mostly with carrier-billing offers that only accept carrier traffic. Gaming subscription and video subscription offers (both mainstream and adult) are doing very well - and these can be promoted on any traffic type (except adult stuff): pop, display, search, and FB.

god bless nutra
Another 2 thumbs up for nutra.. Latam/BR straight sales are crushing it.
mobile content + carrier billing. while it's still a decent market, the big party seems to be over! good news for the poor mobile web users. bad news for lazy marketers relying on fraudulent 1-click flows
volume and quality carrier ip lists can put you ahead of competition. mainstream is overtaking adult. waiting for quality content, the users willingly subscribe to.
Good post, I just wondering what about you caurmen, you have the excellent Machinima, good videos I love it. You sure mix the power of Machinima with the AM, so you are in another level.
@eternum - Thanks! I'm not actively involved in Machinima any more so I have more time to devote to other projects. (Currently, VR is my big thing.)
My opinions on what's working right now are coming - they'll be in the full "What's Working" article.
Casino (CPL) on FB is a waterfall of gold for me right now. The advertorials are so much fun to write as well. Hitting four figures a day at 600% ROI pretty easily and I've only just started with a couple of direct advertisers.
Sweeps is an evergreen vertical but I find it really boring.
Nutra is great but quite competitive - the learning curve is quite steep but the money is there and you can get crazy ROIs.
