Back button scripts now banned?
I was just starting to get my first break even campaign and I try to log in to my PopAds account to a message saying my account has been suspended due to violation of terms.
-----------------------------------
So I email them:
Hello,
I tried to log in to work on my campaigns but the log in screen states that my account has been suspended due to violation of terms. I'm confused as to what I have done? I never got any warnings. Some help or clarification would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric
Response:
Thank you for getting back to us. Your account was banned for fraudulent activity. We place a lot of emphasis on the integrity of our network, so regrettably this decision is final. We would be unable to reinstate your account at this time. Please refer to the section titled Fraud and Deception on
https://www.popads.net/terms-of-service.html.
Best regards,
Gordon Ho

Without much elaboration I'm left a little puzzled. Whatever I did was clearly out of ignorance. The only thing I can think of is using a back button redirect on my AV lander. My clicks have been much higher than my visits. Well over 100%, which I attributed to the back-button redirect to offer. Though I have never heard of, nor can find any threads about, back button scripts being prohibited anywhere.
Anyone willing to help with their insights? I would like to keep PopAds as a TS.

Did your backbutton redirect make your users go into an endless loop where they can't get out of (browser-trapping)? This is indeed not allowed on PopAds as far as I know.

I have wondered the same thing because close to all landers you rip do this javascript loop where they push 10, sometimes more backbutton redirects onto the stack. So the user has to press back 10 times and will hit the redirect page every single time.
And some AV landers have some really aggressive scripts that aren't allowed on any TS - if you don't mind could you post all the <script> contents of the lander you think got you banned?

With 1 back button you don't get >100% CTR on PopAds, so it's very probably it was an infinite (or very long) loop.

Thanks for the quick replies.
Ive tested the final lander and one click of the back button sends you to the offer. Another lander just blocked the back button, that one had regular lower CTR.
I could list all the scripts but it would get really long. This lander is just ripped from Adplexity and hasn't made me profits anyway. Here is the last lander I had been using for a few days of test up to the ban. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jmkhrfz71...xe0Ub1aHa?dl=0
The only other one I had used in the past couple weeks was the super common Google, You have (4) viruses with a broken robot image. That one is pretty aggressive with a loud ass fire alarm. That one blocked the back button, but it's CTR was really low because it was blocked, not a redirect to offer.
PopAds referred me to this section specifically:
"Fraud and Deception
Affiliate agrees not to artificially inflate traffic counts using any program, script, device or by any other means. Tomksoft will audit every Affiliate’s traffic on a daily basis. If Affiliate produces or commits fraudulent statistics Affiliate will have their account permanently removed from our Program and Affiliate will not be compensated for such fraudulent traffic. Additionally, Tomksoft reserves the right to register any fraudulent activities by Affiliate in a global advertisement network fraud database for usage by other advertisement networks. Excessive page reloading or any other abuse of our system may result in Tomksoft pursuing legal action against Affiliate."

All I found was the 10x backbutton redirect, though the Fraud and Deception section you were directed to is for PUBLISHERS so that is some shitty support right there you might want to try again and hope for another person to reply!

Hey ericonline,
I think that I found the script that caused the ban:
<script>
if(parent.window.opener) parent.window.opener.location='voluumtrk.com/click';
</script>
This script redirects the page where the pop was triggered, so that explains your insame CTR.
According to PopAds restrictions, it states: Any ads that interact with other windows/tabs.
Someone in the forum had the same problem, check this post: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...l=1#post276971

Nice to see someone using this. Discovered this 6 months ago,
ridiculously powerful, did a small test - didn't work on major sources, just a couple of smaller ones.
For those interested... it basically allows control of the window where the ahref='_blank' click originated (!) so you goto example.com which has a link to yourad.com, you click the link and end up viewing yourad.com (as expected) however yourad.com tells example.com to navigate elsewhere... sneaky sneaky

Basically "two birds - one stone"

Thanks a ton for finding this! I took it out of the lander. Hopefully that was the only thing making it run illegal.

The funny part is I wasn't
trying to use it. My code noob self just replaced all the links with my own and crossed my fingers it would convert. I don't exactly understand what all the scripts I find in ripped landers actually do yet. Though powerful, I'm not really interested in dealing with tactics that force me to cloak. I sincerely hope that's not the only way to make profits these days; illegal scripts, non-compliant copywriting, and cloaking...

Anyone care to reassure me about this?
Though a warning would have been nice, this script is likely the reason I got banned from PopAds. I sent them back an apologetic and professional response. We'll see if it has any effect.
