Hey there,
I've decided I need to get into Mobile Pops. I've been a full time affiliate for years (Desktop only), but since this is a new type of traffic for me, I want to just pick one source to focus on while I learn the ropes and I want it to be the right one. I've had a lot of challenges in my life and business lately, and don't have much budget left to work with at the moment, so really have to focus hard.
I've been reading a lot of different opinions on the forum, and I must admit I'm a bit intimidated by all of the technical aspects of doing Mobile, and all of the choices there are with optimizaton etc.
What I'm looking for is a traffic source where I can KNOW that the traffic quality is taken seriously and I can just worry about the marketing side of things, and less on micromanging optimization, battling bot traffic, etc. which I understand will be important to my success ultimately but want to "save for later" and just get things converting. I'm sure there's a lot of money to be made in optimizing mobile traffic and putting in work there that others don't, but really I have so much to learn already that I just want to start off with the simplest data possible.
I'd like to preemptively discourage any replies of the nature that "any traffic source can be good" and that there are people making money on all the sources, as I'm really hoping to get a specific answer. Not sure if there's anything close to a consensus, but I'm not ruling that out either -- for example, if someone wanted to get into Desktop PPV traffic and wanted to start with the highest quality source (which I know isn't always necessarily the most profitable if you put the work in) I would tell them to start with TrafficVance/PropelMedia because you can "trust" the traffic will be more consistently good, and I'm sure most PPV affiliates would agree that that is a consensus opinion.
I've signed up for a few of the sources I've read about here, and so far I'm noticing PopAds has high bids, which might indicate high quality?
Thanks so much in advance for any replies!
Hello! As you said you can get a good ROI from any source. But of course some sources are better than other. Also you gotta know that each source has low-volume and high-volume GEOs. For example you can try VN in XXX source and don't have any leads, but on the other GEO, for example TH, you can get +100% ROI. I recommend: Popads, Propellerads, RevTop, ZeroPark, PopCash, Redirect, Plugrush.
Obviously, there is nothing like best source for anything and usually the sources with higher quality traffic will also have higher bids. It's all demand and supply, the pure economy laws at it's best
Based on my own experience, from the pop sources I tried, zeropark had the most crap, but also the lowest bids. Propeller gave me the best result initially, but the prices were the highest ... to sum it up, you will need to test all of them and see where you PERSONALLY can get the best results.
I know what you mean, but it's really fluctuating a lot, placements come and go so it's hard to say what source has the best publishers right now. Mrbraun gave you a good list, I would add adcash to it and it would be almost complete when it comes to sources that actually have some volume.
One thing that many new affiliates forget is that also quality varies from GEO to GEO. I can say you that source A is the best, but if I don't say which GEO I run, you will come and say that source A sucks. Every network has lot of publishers (websites) and those have different volumes in different GEOs. Consider this small thing when you testing as well. I recommend to launch the same campaign on multiple sources before you decide to kill your campaign.
Hi threre,
I'd recommend to use Popcash, PropellerAds, PopAds, AdCash.
I have never had any luck with adCash or propeller ads traffic quality is bad lots of click loss and lots of fraud...try ZeroPark and popads
not much luck with propellerads. if you are starting at min bid, you need to kill off pubs like crazy daily.
popads is pretty good, once you find the whitelisted pubs, it can keep you rolling for months. adcash isnt that bad either. i am using a managed service, all i can say is a good rep makes for alot of difference
I wouldn't suggest using Plugrush anymore as I've been told to pause all of my campaigns that I was running through Plugrush due to the lead quality being "really terrible". I was making good ROI from it too unfortunately.
Not the answer you're looking for... but I would consider starting with native (rev content, content.ad). You seem to be able to string a sentence together, which gives you a massive advantage over the majority of the other advertisers. Arguably a better skillset to master for the long term also
Lots of great tips have been given already. I'll just add this one:
If bot traffic is what you're worried about, why not do a bot test first to eliminate placements that have high percentages of bot traffic?
These 2 threads will tell you everything you need to know:

Also: I find that carrier traffic has less junk traffic than wifi traffic. The downside is that carrier traffic is expensive and the volume is small compared to wifi. But with the right offers carrier traffic can convert very well (i.e. 1-click/2-click flow offers).
Some of my favorite pop sources are popads, zeropark, and propeller. These are my go-to sources when testing new stuff. (Disclaimer: STM does not endorse any traffic networks. Please sign up at your own discretion.)
Great discussion!
