Does the domain that you use for voluum matter? (5)

Hello STMers!

I am about embark on the journey of getting tracking set up with Voluum. I have often heard that using a custom domain is crucial. With that said, does it matter what the domain is? In other words, does the domain need to have contextual words or look appealing in any way or is it just the presence of a custom domain that's necessary?

Also I often see URLs like track.somedomain.com or just somedomain.com. Does it matter if I use a subdomain vs a domain?

The tracking domain itself doesn't matter much, surfers will usually not notice it at all, it will just redirect them to the LP or offer. The important part is to have it, so you don't risk getting negatively influenced by other affiliates using the default url.

Im not sure if you can use subdomains with Voluum, I use the domain directly.

I think you can use subdomains with Voluum. I think I saw it in one of charles ngo's blog posts. Anyways, thanks @matuloo!
