First Campaign, Also Some solutions for my first obstacles (TRACKING,CDN,CODING,etc)

Hey guys,

First of all My name is Ivan, and this is my little contribution/follow along to all of y'all!

Tonight I'm feeling a bit restless and I don't know why. Usually I read STM when that happens - so I decided to start a follow along.

I'm getting ready to launch my first campaign. The reason for this follow along is really to share some of the problems I've encountered and my own solutions. It's hard being new, because you don't have much value to offer anyone yet and few people give you the time of day. Everyone else that's new is also struggling and that's normal. You need to develop your skills on your own and prove yourself.

Here are things that got me to where i am, which is ready to launch campaigns. One thing that is 100% CERTAIN is the EVERY LITTLE F**KING THING you'll want to learn is going to feel like a HUGE OBSTACLE.

I got myself an STM subscription, Beyond Hosting VPS and CDN, Voluum, Adplexity and Adobe Creative Cloud.

I also Use Sublime text to tinker around with code.

What were my biggest problems when learning?

CODING/HTML/CSS

I thought Ripping launders was going to be the easiest way to start at first, but then i realized that i have to know coding to do so, the biggest problem being that they may have CLICKSTEAL (which is bad). Now I've learned a bit about coding to do some basic things. You don't need to know what everything does to screw around with Code - You just need to understand that if you have similar files, links, etc, You can find the code and adjust it and things will work out.

For instance - I have a Iphone 6s lander, Now it's coming time for iPhone 7 sweepstakes. What do I need to do? Open the HTML file and CSS. Find all the words that say "iPhone 7" and replace them. Same with Images - Just replace with a file that's THE SAME SIZE (height and width pixel-wise).

Mobile Web design

I use adobe muse to make mobile stuff, before that I thought templates were the solution. I looked at some landing page builder websites and realized they were not much easier than using adobe muse and pretty ineffective in the end as well. Go watch a tutorial for adobe muse. It's really easy to use once you get the hang of it.

However, there are some more advanced things to learn as you go along such as deleting unnecessary coding that muse exports, and compressing things down. ZENO had a very helpful tutorial on this just search "Muse Mobile Landers"

- Offers/landers

I'm a perfectionist and I REALLY overthought about what a lander has to be. If you really boil it down, it's just some bloody rectangles, some different sized fonts and logo's that make something look legit and then a little shadow to make your product pop or whatever.
When you first start putting it together, you have a predisposition to think it's crappy because you've seen it being built. Don't overthink it and just start adding stuff. Also for mobile, when you take it from the desktop to the tiny screen, it looks 10000% better. Keep it simple. Once I made it, I realized that I'm actually above average at making landing pages.

Hosting and Filezilla

I didn't know what the hell to do here - but now it's not that difficult.
a) Get a website
b)Get filezilla
c) Input your Cpanel log in information into filezilla and only focus on the PUBLIC_HTML folder. Creating a new directory = Creating a new page. Drag and drop your website files into there, make as many pages as you want for your LPS. Originally I thought i needed a bunch of websites, but now i realize i just needed a bunch of pages.

Content Delivery Network

So, Since I'm doing mobile pops. I KNOW i needed CDN. However, there wasn't a ton of information i could easily find online, especially since every host is different. But here's how it seems to work with Beyond hosting's CDN.

You upload your Images to your CDN directories. Then you just open your website HTML/CSS files, Find the .PNG. or .JPG or whatever, and replace it with the URL of the SAME image, that you've uploaded to the CDN (upload all your same images your using, then right click on the file in the CDN, Copy link, and repaste into your websites code.

TRACKING

Ok, this is a big one. And there's not a lot of stuff that's on youtube for Voluum. I still don't know how to use tracking tokens, but learning. However, The hardest part was understanding the very basics of how get basic tracking because they ask you a bunch of stuff that SEEMS REALLY IMPORTANT, but the most important part is at the end. So here's what I've gotten down.

- You're OFFER URL is the most important piece of the puzzle. Put that into a new campaign and get your Voluum Tracking URL (THE VERY LAST STEP AFTER NEW AFFILIATE NETWORK, TRAFFIC SOURCE,ETC) Your Voluum tracking URL is the Link you give to your PAID TRAFFIC (i.e., pop ads in my case), your OFFER URL goes in your landing pages CODING. that's it. Then there's tokens, but i don't know shit about that. At least I have some basic tracking while i figure it out.

_ no-one tells you that the last step is the only really important one with tracking (Correct me if i'm wrong). So I was having a mini -freak out thinking I needed all this information from all my traffic sources and affiliate networks when you actually don't. You just need to get to the last page and put your offer URL in, and get your Voluum tracking URL. (Obviously, this is super duper basic)

What has changed since I've started on STM a few weeks ago?

Well, I just searched and searched and searched and now I have a good grasp of what to do. Find your strengths and work with them - try to find solutions for your weaknesses. In my case, I needed to talk to a coder and he explained that I could just easily change something I asked him about, but I realized that what he said applied to a huge variety of things I can now change in code.

Just start doing stuff and things start to work themselves out. It always Amazes me how much faster you'll find a solution if you keep se

Okay, So I'm doing a Two for one.

For my first campaigns, I'm doing Gift cards and iPhone 7 sweeps.

http://easyoffer.info/gc/amazon/

Here's an example of the mobile lander that I'm using for the Gift Cards - They are all going to look slightly similar to this - But Just wanted to show you guys and example of a really simple design. The Card is the Fancyest thing design wise on here and it's just some simple effects in illustrator you learn early on if you do tutorials and you can make pretty much any kind of simple, but legit looking LPs.

For IPHONE 7 I'm doing Germany, AU, and UK geos - and Using these guys here.

I ripped these off adplexity, Miro from Banners Landers cleaned them up for me. it was a bit of an investment because I had x10 - But he also coached me and gave me some invaluable advise that really opened my eyes - Highly recommend their service - Thanks Miro!

Hey Guys,

So There's An update - I didn't set up tracking correctly. So I don't have that to show you. it shows the amount of page visits, but that's it. Looks like I need to put in a bit more work into that.

However. I did get some results from the campaign - And while initially I thought I made $13.00 - off of 80$ spent in Advertising. I realized when I looked into my pop-ads account that half of the ads barely budged from low bids, and the other half have only been depleted by 50%.

Meaning that the ROI% is MUCH higher than what I initially Expected>

Here are the Results -

Iphone 7 UK - $18.30 and Got $4.00 - 78.1420%
Iphone 7 AU - $18 - and Got $6.40 - 64.4444%
Iphone 7 DE - $9.58 and got $2.90 - 69.7286%

What's weird is that the Iphone uk one is not showing up properly either in my desktop browser. However!, I think that with the small results the campaign produced so far, this has given me incentive to continue with Optimization.

Next Steps- I don't think that DE is even hosted on my CDN. Going to take a closer look at the coding. Try to minify HTML and CSS - and start split testing with different offers in different AFF networks. Maybe try Adcash and Split test between that.

The ROI isn't any spectacular, but this is your first campaign. The good thing is that you got some conversions in the first place and it was multiple ones. The most important part in any optimization process is to start getting multiple conversions, because without them, you cannot optimize anything. Since the ROI is too negative for now, I wouldn't recommend to do much optimization, as you most likely need to work on the LPs and drive up the CVR a bit. It would also be a good idea to test more offers and see how much you can improve the ROI this way.

Looking forward to your progress, looks like you're a very organized person and success is only a question of time
