Improved Placement Cutting Tool
Hey guys,
while using Amy's "whitelist_calculator" I wanted to make it even easier to import and analyze what placements to cut. This tool let's you directly copy and paste exported Voluum's CSV reports and tells you what placements to cut based on your entered numbers. It's essentially (in my eyes) an improved version of the "whitelist_calculator". Any comments and suggestions on improving are welcome, I hope some of you find it useful.

Good luck with your camps
PS: I'm not sure where this thread belongs... Please move it in the right section of the forum.
(I noticed that rules for coloring get strange as soon as you paste some numbers around, I will fix that tomorrow. If anyone knows how to lock those, let me know plz.)

I like the format of this, especially being able to set the Min. CTR, Min. Spent to Cut, BotKiller, and the ease of copy/paste from the Voluum csv.
Just to clarify, is this using the same logic / formula as the original whitelist_calculator? Can you specify what modifications you made?
Thanks for share!

Yes, it's using Amy's formula for whitelist/killing placements. The only change to this formula was this - it was using the entered CPM to calculate, but now it's using the CPV of placement that was pasted inside.
So modifications are only done to improve the usability of Amy's calc and I added the features you noticed:
-
BotKiller which uses min CTR
-
Min spent to Cut (I think Amy's default spend was set to somewhere around 2x payout)
-
Ease of importing from
Voluum
-
Duplicate placement check - when importing more camps with similar targeting, and option to get summed up placement data

Thanks for this. I have a question though..
How do the new fields impact the calculator?
I mean, things like "Cost" (and thus ROI) are far from being accurate in Voluum.
How does this affect results and which placement to kill or keep running?
Thank you.

I have the same situation - in
Voluum I have ROI +50% for example and on TS I have ROI of lets say +40%. You should enter your desired Voluum ROI, not your actual ROI for the killer to work as you want it to - so in my case if I want to have actual +40% ROI, I would enter +50% ROI in calculator.
This tool is meant to give you easier and faster data, but if you want to manually import everything, then Amy's calc is the right one I think.
And btw as I'm using it, I usually cut the obvious placements that don't change from KILL to KEEP RUNNING if I change my desired ROI for like 5%. For those I would take a little more time to decide whether to kill or keep.

Thanks so much massiv biz for this new version with the added features! Very useful.
I've linked to this thread from the original thread here.
Very grateful for your share!

As you said.

It would be better to grab cost data directly from the traffic source, and combine them with revenue data from
Voluum. It would take hours to manually match up the cost vs. revenue data for each placement. This tool will help to automate that:

Hi
I'm trying to use this spread sheet but I get no data in the "WLCalc" and "Enough Spent?" Columns.
I filtered down to 1 offer, 1 lander and 1 aff network in my campaign. I set up the Voluum categories as instructed in the ReadMe file and drilled down for "Source" (is this what I use for finding placements to cut?).
Voluum setup:

csv file:

I delete the top row and paste into cell a 29 in the spreadsheet and get this:

Any suggestions to what I am doing wrong?

I'm not familiar with this version of the spreadsheet, as it's a modified version of my original.
I tried inputting your first row of data manually into the spreadsheet and got no errors. Could you try pasting one row/column of data at a time and see at which point the errors are triggered?
