Voluum Click URL assistance needed! (help)

Hi all!

I understood 90% of tracking and how the mechanics of Voluum works, thanks to all the guides and all the help provided here

One thing I dont quite get,

- I'm following Charles Ngo blog on Voluum campaign setup: http://charlesngo.com/voluum-campaign-setup/
- The part that really confused me was the Click URL, this is his exact section of the blog post that I don't get

==========

Where do you actually get the links and code for your landing pages?

Here’s how simple it is. You DON’T need to add any code to the bottom of your landing pages like with all the other programs.

Go to Setup. It’s the gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
If you’re promoting ONE offer on your landing page, use the click URL.
If you’re promoting multiple offers on your landing page, here is what you do. For offer 1, it’s going to be http://otuyh.trackvoluum.com/click/1″. For offer 2, it’s going to be http://otuyh.trackvoluum.com/click/2. Notice that the numbers change at the end of the URL.
Take the URL, and put it where you want the user to click on your landing page.

==========

Here's my question:

1) How does this Click URL actually work to do tracking for the offers, and what are the mechanics of this?

2) Am I supposed to put this CLick URL on my lander page CTA button link?

3) When I typed the Click URL link, it brought me to one of the offer lander page, so what if I have multiple offers? (All on their individual separate landing page of mine), how do I set which Offer to bring it to? (Eg. I am running 3 offers: AV offer, casino offer, and a Sweep offer)

4) What does it actually mean by "promoting multiple offers on your landing page"?

5) And for promoting "multiple offers", even if I put http://otuyh.trackvoluum.com/click/2 or http://otuyh.trackvoluum.com/click/3, how does it know which offer to bring the user to?

You are correct that you are supposed to put this click URL as your landing page's CTA link. Basically when you go to the setup screen in Voluum (first click the gear icon between support and your name in the upper right hand corner of Voluum to get to settings and then click the setup tab) from there you will see various things, at the top will be Click URL and Multi-offer click URL.

Those click URLs are unique for your voluum tracking. The way that these work are when you generate a campaign in voluum you select the traffic source you will be running on, the offer(s) you are going to run and any landing page(s) you are going to run for that campaign. Voluum will then give you a link to send this traffic to, something like

http://track.voluumtrk.com/1ad545c1-...variable=SUBID

If you are direct linking that above link will track the clicks and send them straight to whatever offer you defined. Otherwise it will track the clicks and send them to your landing page. On your landing page you now have http://otuyh.trackvoluum.com/click and if someone clicks that a landing page clickthrough will be recorded and the user will be redirected to the offer you set in voluum. Now if you have a landing page with multiple offers (step 1/2, etc) you need to have multiple links. When you add a landing page like this you specify the number of offers. If there is 2 offers, when you create the campaign it will make you specify offer1 and offer2 to run on the landing page. Now on the actual lander you will have your links like http://otuyh.trackvoluum.com/click/1 (redirects to offer1 when clicked) and http://otuyh.trackvoluum.com/click/2 (redirects to offer2 when clicked).

Hopefully this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for much for your reply,

How do you know which is the offer you "set" in Voluum?
And how do you set it?

When you create a new campaign in Voluum, select the destination "Path" ( under Advanced)
- You select the lander to send your traffic to ( you need to have added the lander into Voluum already )
- Then select the "Offer" that this lander is promoting. If your lander only have one offer, your click URL (eg. http://xxx123.trackvoluum.com/click ) will take the user to this offer.
- If your lander has more than 2 offers, your lander will have 2 CTA, the first CTA will need to link to http://xxx123.trackvoluum.com/click/1 - which correspond to the first offer in your campaign setup.
- in your campaign setup, click on "Add offer" - and select the 2nd offer. On your lander, link the 2nd CTA to http://xxx123.trackvoluum.com/click/2 - which correspond to the 2nd offer in your campaign setup.

Single offer Lander:
- CTA button - link to http://xxx123.trackvoluum.com/click

2 Offer Lander:
- CTA corresponding to offer 1 should link to http://xxx123.trackvoluum.com/click/1
- CTA corresponding to offer 2 should link to http://xxx123.trackvoluum.com/click/2

When Voluum send the user to your lander, a cookie is saved to track which offer this campaign is promoting, so when the user clicks on your link http://xxx123.trackvoluum.com/click - voluum pulls the end URL for that campaign's offer from their saved info and send the user there, that's why if you just directly navigate to your lander without going through Voluum's campaign URL, clicking on your link http://xxx123.trackvoluum.com/click will not take you anywhere because there is no cookies/reference from voluum.

I see, Thank you so much for your clarification,
one last question, in Voluum under Advanced, there's 3 options

- Flow
- Path
- URL

1) So for tracking campaigns, we only use Path?
2) What are Flow and URL used for?
3) And when do we use Flow or URL?

You can use whatever you see fit for your campaign. They increase in complexity like so:

URL: lets you send traffic just to a URL. Simple.

Path: lets you split traffic to groups of different landers/offers and add rules

Flow: basically like a predefined path with various rules involved. Flows are useful for more complex traffic redirections

Overall, I would start with a path as once you get how that works, setting up a flow is similar and its usefulness will be clearer.
