Pops: Sending conversion data back?

Hi all,

One of my traffic sources has suggested me to send back conversion data via a postback URL to them as they claim that will help me optimize my traffic for the traffic sources, is this true? Has anyone tried it? On the flip side are there any cons to doing so i.e. will they use the conversion data against us (since they can in theory up the bid of profitable sources to make more money from us as well thus squeezing my margins).

Let me know thanks.

Regards,
SP

Some sources set it up so that you can't pass all info to your tracker so in order to get full detail you have to use their tracking. If that's not the case you might as well use your own tracker... i would personally stay away from posting stuff back to them since they have your campaign link and your campaign and can rip it easily if they have your stats. if you do pass it to them, cloak!

I don't like to pass data to traffic networks either. I'm able to optimize the same way, if not better, than they do. On top of that, I don't feel comfortable handing offer conversions data on a plate. I simply believe it could be too tempting for a regular employee at times

Yep, why would they want to get that data, if not to improve their own profits some way?

Well, it makes perfect sense, they could use automatic rules to help you optimize based on this data. There are still managed networks that only work this way too. The model itself is good and there is nothing wrong about it, in many cases it would be actually easier for us to optimize that way as you would see conversions right next to the cost directly at the source ... if it wasn't for the human factor I might be paranoid, but I like to keep this info to myself wherever possible
