Hi,
I'm doing carrier billing in the last 3 years, i want to start testing some CPL offers.
I would love to get some tips on which vertical works good on Mobile, what are the top traffic sources, should i use prelander? anything else you can add
Thanks!
Hi @hen kinan,
First of all: it’s important to completely understand the scope of both types of products. Someone going to a carrier billing offer has to actually subscribe to something in order for you to earn.
CPL offers, instead, don’t require a purchase to be made in order for an affiliate to earn a commission. CPL offers gather info about the customer such as name, phone #, email, address which that company will then use to attempt to sell its products or services to the customer.
Typically, extremely targeted traffic converts best on carrier billing offers. What this means is that someone who is actively “looking for” the product or service is probably a better prospect than someone who’s not actively looking for it.
Given this, both carrier billing and CPL offers can make money in affiliate marketing. This is the reason why I agree with @matuloo. I suggest you do not stop running carrier billing offers and do some A/B tests to see which of the two kinds of offers works best for you.
The most typical examples of CPL offers for Mobile are Sweepstakes and Dating offers. This means that both Dating and Mainstream verticals are good.
Moreover, in these verticals, you can find both CPL and carrier billing offers. In fact, you can make your tests by running both kinds of offers for the same vertical. First, what you have to do is test which banner (or prelander + banner) works well for carrier billing offers and then do the same for CPLs. Once you find the best match for both kinds of offers, you’ll be able to finally compare carrier billing and CPL offers and see which one is best for you.
Especially for Dating offers, it’s really useful to work with prelanders because - that way - you can encourage conversions. Basically, the prelander is a great way to ‘pre-sell’ the product to a customer. Indeed, when they hit the main page, it's more likely that they'll take action. In addition, what’s great about the prelander is that it can be linked from a variety of different sources such as textual links, banners, etc.
Just remember that a prelander is not enough to guarantee success. It has to be an attractive prelander and has to be coherent with the content of the offer you’re going to promote!
Cheers!
