On another topic, how are the offers doing for you?

Yeah, crazy people.. What do you think gonna be next with this app and company? Probably it will be the next most expensive company in the World

I'm surprised how long it's stayed popular, I thought it would be a fly by night thing. I was running in the park today and spotted a flock of Pokemon Goers marauding around the same spot.

There was a rumour going around that Niantic had secured rights to develop a Harry Potter related version (wand instead of Pokéballs?) but it was declared a hoax a few days back - I'm sure it will spark the rise of similar augmented reality dev. companies.

I see huge potential the medium but when the crowds start dying down and it loses the social aspect, will it still have the same appeal?

OK i really don't believe it's going to be around for that long but I do believe that similar companies or games will soon evolve into a immersive social experience which brings together offline and online worlds.

There isn't (currently) a good enough solution to bring online users to offline properties, i'm not talking about big brand names (mcdonalds wallmart etc), the offline businesses that need proper marketing as in CPA / CPI for buying a physical item from the store are mom and pops shops, your local grocery store.

If Niantic develops a platform which incentivizes online users to travel to an offline store and make a purchase, that will change everything, and we'll finally see a proper effective marketing channel for offline shops that is based on actual performance. In Niantic's case it can be that a shop owner would setup a pokestop right outside his shop, if you just pass by you get the usual amount of pokeballs, but if you step in and make a purchase of over $X then your receipt will show a coupon code / QR code that you can scan and will gain you x3 pokeballs or other cool poke stuff which means more business for the store and more pokeballs for me. you. us. i meant us.

if you read the post i published two weeks ago, you would have read that this is already happening
you can buy pokemons to be placed on your property, thus attract "users" to come to your store.
they even have a new payment method CPV - Cost Per Visit

there already case studies that shows growth in Revenues. but so far it is limited to pizza / Ice cream places and similar places that are more oriented towards teenagers and kids,
but the evolution of this industry wont take long before another app will be able to use this augmented reality feature to other wider range of stores.

to be honest i did believe the Pokemon craze will be that long what i didnt believe is that not too many people got hurt by this? (expected a lot more)
for example in the north of Israel next to the border some guy took a picture of Pickachu inside a mine field. (talk about taking it to the extreme)
Attachment 12322

so all you guys and girls here playing Pokemon Go - please play responsively

The fact that pictures like this are showing up is just really ridiculous to me. So what an app came out that is getting people outside and exercising. Just because you don't play the game doesn't mean you need to hop on the band wagon in some way and start insulting people for wanting to get outside and play a game. People unconsciously spend hours a day on Facebook or sitting on their asses watching TV and they don't receive any flak.

Really what is the point of this thread other than to stir the pot? If you really want to know how the offers are doing talk to your AM and test some offers. Campaign could almost be launched in the time it takes to start a thread.

Anyway, saw this on Reddit the other day:

"Niantic develops a platform which incentivizes online users to travel to an offline store and make a purchase, that will change everything..." Yes, moreover Niantic is currently developing it's own crypto-currency called "PokeCoin" as in "BitCoin". It will be the standard currency transaction for you and me.
