Ok so I have decided on a campaign. I am going to work on RPG game it is known and I have seen it running on the FB already for over a month so I know it is profitable. I have the campaign through MaxBounty and they allow to run it on social networks. According to Alexa Audiance is 18-24 age mostly male playing from home No children. So that gives me an Idea how to approach that campaign. I will be targeting horny, sexually frustrated teens and geeks - Rofl. My add copy will be something along those lines
Massive RPG Game .... Second line.........Safe the Galaxy and get the girl........for the image I will use sexy minimally dressed female warrior.
I would probably narrow down audience by similar interests List of few games, computers etc
What do you guys think?
Question
I found that statement in other post but nobody responded to it
"The budget of $200.00 was limiting (I did feel as if I was spending more on fb than I ever did with ppv). You couldn't test much and I don't think you can drop your CPC down with a small daily budget (right?). I did notice another member ran his campaign with no regard for budget. He exhausted the $200 in about two days, but he actually made a good profit."
I guess question is Does your daily spending budget influences CPC ?
I have an issue the campaign has $0.16 Epc ( $1.25 per lead ) isn't that kinda low to make it work on facebook?
The more you spend with a good CTR the more your click costs will drop.
Also might want to spell check or use onehourtranslation.com to make sure your English is correct. You would use "Save the galaxy and get the girl" not "safe". just lookin out
give your campaign a shot and post stats and details.
haha yes I will make sure to spell check everything. I always think about too many things at this same time that is how I misspell words all the time.
question
Since that is a RPG game campaign targeted audience are mostly people that are still in school would it be a good idea to pause the campaign between early morning and let say 3pm?
^^ yes you can pause , conversions are best 3pm till midnight on weekdays and friday to sundays all day, for game campaigns.
I would pause when you have data that indicates CTR/CPCs/EPCs etc are lower during the day hours. If you're targeting 18-24 most of them won't be in school, for all you know they could all be working night shifts and playing games/browsing FB between 11 AM and 4 PM. Trust the data. A lot of game offers/campaigns will do as blackberry said but you never know what you're splintered down demo might behave like.
Should I direct link or create sandwich page.?. And how do I track direct linked campaign ? I would appreciate help with that. I am an expert in organic traffic not much in payed.
I did set up the advertisement. Direct link EPC .16 $.125 per lead
This ad targets users:
who live in the United States
between the ages of 18 and 24 inclusive
who are male
who like science fiction, star wars, rpg games, world warcraft, star treck or battlestar galactica
who are single
who are interested in women
Campaign:
My Ads (New Campaign)
Bid Type:
CPC
Bid:
$0.60 USD per click
Daily Budget:
$50.00 USD per day
Add copy I am testing first
Can you beat her?
Battlestar Galactica Massive multilayer online game.5 Million players, 2 million of them females and growing.
I have 3 add copies with 20 images . I will start the campaign as soon gets approved.
I'd be interested to know if you can actually get some racy female images approved. I tried a campaign on FB and mine were rejected because they were too sexy, even though it was just a face... I'm going with a burka next time...
I didn't get any sexual images just Space Female warriors
I need help with that add. "The destination URL of this ad either violates Facebook's Advertising Guidelines" anyone knows what could be the issue Help please
are you using your aff link? you may need to do a re-direct.
Can someone tell me more about redirecting the url, how do I set it up?
go to Johnathan volks blog and search for the post he did awhile back about direct linking on facebook. Shows a great technique for tracking direct link campaigns with sub id's and even has all the scripts you need.
I did look for that article but I couldn't find it. All the stuff is little confusing to me
I just checked Maxbounty aff link on mywot.com and this is what I got,
http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/mb01.com
This is pure BS, we can't use Maxbounty link?
But the final destination is kind of fine
http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/bigpoint.com
Are you using any tracker like prosper or cpvlab?
I ran the Maxbounty offers on Facebook before and they were fine.
I'd like to hear about this matter from admin or mods.
here ya go..found it.
http://www.jonathanvolk.com/facebook...ebook-ads.html
basically all your doing is putting a script on a domain that points users to a your affiliate url. So you can submit your own url to FB. You should be doing this all the time anyway because it allows you to track, change offers without resubmitting, and have more control over where the traffic is being pointed to.
Ok so since yesterday I set up my tracker on my own server. Created 2 campaigns both got approved same image different add copy Also in second campaign I add people interested in dating services
The advertisement ran over night each got 8 clicks 1 conversion. what do you think I should do next?
Raise my bid ?
I will try more images and see what will happend
try more images and new ad copies .03% CTR won't cut it.
I would personally ignore the dating services keywords, unless your using a sexier photo.
also the targeting is a little mixed. In order to help you get that initial high CTR i would better segment your interests according to relevance. example:
starwars, millenium falcon, han solo, jedi, yoda
star trek, mr. spock, star trek enterprise
rpg games, mmorpgs, online gaming, playing PC games
see how those 3 are very relevant to each other? If you bundle them all up at once your going to have very difficult to read data and not learn enough about which markets work. So while testing new images/copy pick 1 niche to target and expand it out with as many relevant interests as possible to help expand the reach.
should I create separate campaign for each keyword? i am not sure how to track multiple keywords in one campaign. I am using T202 for tracking. I did as you suggested I got ride of the dating stuff raised my bid added 5 more adds with different images. By the way I had not have a single click since I woke up. How many keywords per copy group should I use?
One more question how can I adjust adds with out having them re approved all the time? This unnecessary waist of time
you don't necessarily need to make a new ad group for "each" keyword what i was saying was group them together by relevance so you can see what works.
star wars and RPG games have little to do with each other and the demographics will be very different (although some people like both that will be the smallest portion of people)
and you can't change ads with out re-approval.
I did some research when comes to keywords I wonder if is a good idea to use them. Those stats are according to Google so I don't know if they are relevant in FB.
Those are search query statistics. When people are searching they are actively pursuing some goal. On FB for the most part people are bored and are socializing, so their mindset is different. I wouldn't let search statistics like those above influence your FB interest targeting, although they may be useful for finding related and suggested keywords, helping you to find other games for instance that you didn't know about.
Also, I think mixing gaming and dating isn't a great idea - the people who are single and like online dating services may have little interest in games. Conversely the users interested in games may not care whether or not the game has female players or not - they may care more about the game content, the challenge etc.
I would split the targeting into separate ads as scotch suggested. Then you will no whether the dating, gaming or sci-fi fans are most responsive. Also, if you have an ad targeting something other than the dating interests, make sure to remove single and interested in women. Guys play games and like sci-fi regardless of their sexual preference and relationship status!
With only 1 conversion and 43 clicks to go off of I think the new key here is going to be to pick 1 of the 3 keyword groups (although that last one is still a little mixed) and focus on that with several ads.
I'm fairly certain that people interested in either star trek or (have you tried keywords for battle star galactica?) will convert at some point.
Right now though what i'm seeing across the board is that frankly your ads are not getting the job done. Try new more engaging headlines, focus all your body copy attention on getting them to simply click the ad and sign up. (maybe test a short copy like Click Here! Play Now!)
The biggest influence on your CTR's will be the images though. The astronaut girls don't seem to be of interest to any of the groups so try something else. Remember you need to scream for their attention so look/modify your photos to really stand out.
you could even try crazy effects like instead of a normal hot girl make her have green skin. etc.
The main problem is your image CTRs. With those and the resulting CPCs, you will need a VERY high conversion rate on your offer for it to be profitable. My advice, and I do a lot in the gaming niche, would be to narrow your demo down a lot more and change your angle to really get their attention. Gamers respond strongly to the mentioning of other games they like. So, I would for example, target players of Eve and use a headline like "Voted better than Eve?" Then a body copy about how "Eve is saturated with noobs. Try Battlestar Galactica Online, check it out free right now!" Then for an ad use a very very obvious Eve image that ANY Eve player will recognise. It is likely to get their attention, they may agree with the body copy or may be angered by it, either way their interested. You could then do the same for Sins of a Solar Empire, Freelancer, Black Prophecy, Dark Horizon, X3/X2/XI, and so on.
some of those images look much better and btw might want to fix your spelling of better just in case. but hopefully this will do pretty good.
Also, note that #Eve (entertainer) is incorrect! You want something more like #Eve Online, make sure it's the game you're targeting. Also, Astro Empires is another one - text based browser game. You could hit them with something about this game being basically Astro Empires in 3D. The ad images look A LOT better. I immediately thought of Sins of a Solar Empire when I saw the last image. And that nostalgia/recognition is the response you want to evoke in gamers in order to get their attention!
Update this is getting very frustrating none of ma new adds were approved and that is not even what upsets me but the fact that it took Facebook all day to reject it. Back to drawing board
Can you show us your new ads? Might be able to help figure out why they were disapproved. What reason did they give you?
If you submitted: "Voted Beter than EVE! - Are you tired playing against Noobs and Boys? Play Free Battlestar Galactica engaging massive Universe. 3 Million Hardcore Players!" It could be because of the slightly off English.
I am not sure if that approach makes any sense but maybe creativity is what doctor ordered. I am sure we will find out tomorrow. I set spending to $50 for tonight. I wonder if I should raise it? And what do you think my CTR should be to make that campaign successful?
English is still a tad off on some of the ad copies, but the images are MUCH better. If they disapprove must might have to resubmit or test out a few different ones (they may not like the crazy ones ya never know) Ideally your shooting for .2% and higher CTR's to see a nice price drop per click which is really all that matters along with your EPC on the offer.
None of the images got approved WHAW ! they are an assholes. Ok I need to find more images
Update
I just uploaded new images waiting for approvals. I just noticed that they dismissed images that they did approved before. Make sense of that! Rofl
Update
All the adds got approved even those that got rejected first time around- Strange. I did ran them for two days and had 3 somehow successful adds. In total I have spend 119 dollars and made $33. the highest CTR was 0.071% yesterday today it dropped to.064% I am really not sure what should I do next should I brake those campaigns in two separate ones by keywords ? to get ride off bad keywords?

What should I do next ?
I think I got the right images but there is still something wrong
How to get the CTR to 2%?
Why the CTR dropped over night?
I really need help here guys
CTR can be impacted by day-parting but also banner/ad blindness... another metric to look @ your ads that I don't see mentioned much is Frequency which shows the # of times your target show your ad..
I personally don't do RPG on FB so I don't know that market very well... Have you thought of creating a FB Page and running your offer through there? Than you can use things like Ads for Pages that offer advanced targeting; people seem to love that social/peer pressure...
One thing I've noticed is that in your ad copy, you never have a CTA. Make sure you TELL them exactly what you want them to do i.e. CLICK HERE... You may think it goes without saying that they should click on the ad, but you should always assume you're marketing to retards who literally need to have their hand held through the process.
With regards to the CTR drop, it could be a number of things... It could be Facebook's shitty frequency capping (they show the same ad over and over again to the same people so they get banner blindness), you could've been out bidded by a competitor with better EPCs, they moved your ads to less high quality inventory etc. etc. I wouldn't obsess over it - just focus on getting images which reach out and grab the throat of your target audience, get those CTRs up and CPCs down and then start tweaking till profitable.
spoke to soon check out this thread to see how you add a like button on an externa link
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...2%80%99-button!
not sure if that .62% was a typo or not if your ad did get that high of a CTR your on the right track and you should basically start working to identify which of those keywords is resulting in converting users.
There are plenty of people who like the matrix and star wars but the fans of those movies might convert differently so try splitting them up and see what happens. Really the key to making gaming ads work is simply testing a LOT of ads copies, images, etc. and I agree with the above you need to make a clear call to action and tell the user what to do. Sign up for free" "create your avatar now!" "download your free copy today" etc.
I would for the time being make things super easy on yourself and focus on just one keyword target of battlestar galactica
run ads pointed at users who can be targeted by keywords that only relate to battle star galactica. To improve your CTR's it's always a good idea to use terminology that the users know or are familiar with. To learn this go to battlestar fan sites, forums, etc.
During hte STM gaming contest I had success using the words "open beta" in my ads since that's a gamer term it appeals to them greatly. Pick your demo carefully and spend time learning what appeals to them and relate that to what your selling has to offer. Do they complain about not being able to have enough characters to choose from in other games? then run an ad that says "Now with 300 new avatars!" or something like that. Keep testing new ads and make sure you do so in a way that even if the ad is unsuccessful your eliminating variables that don't convert and always learning something to try on your next test.
Your making progress just keep at it!
Anyone knows a network with more games I could promote?
