Most challenging thing about Affiliate marketing?

Our office was having this discussion from a network POV the other day so I thought I'd ask you, the affiliates on STM, the same question.
Besides your frustrations on not making as much money as you'd like to based on your campaigns what else do you find frustrating or challenging?

Just want some feedback to see if we as a network can take some of the most common complaints (if the issue is indeed with your network and NOT something on your side) people have and see if we can develop even more tools and features for our marketers!

Discuss.

Most frustrating thing? Hard to say which one I would pick as the most frustrating one, but since you asked about network related issues - whenever the CVR of an offer goes down by 50% or more with no changes done on my end after being stable for weeks and the AM tells me - "Oh, it's just you, all the other affiliates pushing it are having great results, it must be your traffic!" - yeah, this can get pretty frustrating

I would say sticking to it. So many affiliate marketers i talk to just dont give campaigns a chance to prove themselves, and pull out too early. Then they never reach their potential. So PATIENCE is an issue..sometimes you have to trust what you believe in.

I would say staying focused. Its so easy to justify hopping around

Hands down the most challenging thing is the constant change! Nothing stays the same. This makes things very hard to keep up with if you are working solo without any tools.

I hear you matuloo...I hate the lack of real transparency as well, so we always strive to not give our advertisers this answer, unless of course it *is* on their end...sometimes what happens is that there might not be enough new users on your offer i.e. low saturation so the issue might not be with you or the network

True. I used to be like this when I was younger - I suspect it's like this for many people in AM - no patience, and i expected maximum results (when it came to schoo, work etc) from jsut putting in some effort. Patience really is the hardest thing to achieve in any area of your life

We ended up building a custom platform which takes care of:

- Tracking
- Campaign set up
- Landing page set up
- Auto optimization
- Offer uploading, management
- Financial reporting, accounting.
- Supplying campaigns to media buyers.
- Mass updates (imagery, text, offers across 150+ countries)

Sounds like an awesome setup!

For me the most challenging thing is watching my budget deplete over time as I struggle to get my first profitable campaign :S

That's literally the end game
