$400/day Penny Auction Case Study On LeadImpact

Hey All

Since I have taken so much from this forum I believe it is time I give something back! I have been running penny auctions for quite some time, but over the past 3 months I have found a very stable way of making them work for any product on Leadimpact!

Now I did take this coupon idea from someone with much respect in this IM game, David Ford over at ppvplaybook but took it on my swing and hey it paid dividends!

So what did I do?

Well everyone loves a coupon, a special deal, saving money.

So I made a lander, that could be modified to *Any* product out there, which would result in surges of traffic and hopefully good profits.

Here is the lander that I used, keeping to my favourite theory of Keeping it simple, stupid!

After For was a dynamic insert of the url the shopper was on.

Now as you can see it is bright, its simple and looks like a coupon!

So I gathered all lots of urls to do with ipad 2's like walmart, bestbuy, target etc and traffic began to dribble in.

So I turned it up a notch and picked 20 well known sought after products, gathered 1000's of urls with the affexpert tools (Lifesavingtools!) and found that many had traffic with no competition.

The CTR for a lander like this was surprising anywhere fro 5-20% and running a good penny auction offer was vital as I have tried many in the past and found that there are a few consistent killers.

Ill give away my favourite 3 Quibids, Zbiddy, Grabswag and the good days of SaveBig!

Here is the past 10 days ive been running Zbiddy

Now I hope this clears some air for some of the people still struggling to make PPV work.

Just take a really simple idea and most of the time it will in fact work.

With PPV I truly believe the simpler the page, the easier it is for the user because you have a few seconds to grab their attention.

Also, I found that a simple CLICK HERE underline in blue text is by far the best Call to action, better then buttons in all the campaigns that I have done.

So yeah, You can copy this if you life, but I will beat you at bidding as I am months ahead of you on this one, but the idea is to take this theme and turn it into even more profits.

I am sure some of you creative marketers out there will take this and turn it into $1000'days and what not, its a comfortable campaign that I know will make me anywhere from $100-$700/day.

Anyway, thanks STM for such a good forum, love everyones input and its helping me excel as a marketer, in less hours of a day so I have more time to enjoy my life and live it up!

Peace Nigz!

Maynzie out

Oh and I forgot to mention, think outside the box.

USA is not the only place to make money....

Leadimpact has solid inventory in many countries.... untapped..... fresh eyes hint hint.

awesome share!!!

one question ?

from this POP AD. did you DL to the offer or have a pre-sell LP ???

+

try this with a co-reg pathway.
since you are already doing well with it and know your metrics. add in some more offers to get money + build a list you can email to later about the same offer or coupons [like u said]

awesome share!

as, soon as I have another positive result. Ill post mine

Lucrumnet

FYI:
this works very well with the strategy of rotating offers (and LP's) on the backside to find best conversion once u have the ad CTR% and target volume established.

10-06-2011 12:35 AM #4 maynzie (Moderator)

Hey Phoenix !

Yeah I just popped straight to offer, most would be surprised at how well they convert DL'ing But using a coupon allowed me gather boats and boats of traffic from virtually any product out there

Man I fail at coreg so badly lol, my tech skills are horrible. I tried coreg before and it was miserable haha, I will have to try get back on there but I just get so confused with it, and what I should be doing haha!

And awesome dude can not wait to read your ideas

Take care

wickedly brilliant!

coupon 'fever' is DEF. going on and I have been slow to jump on it [not like FB, high volume CPV & co-reg are not serious time sucks]

I'm going to try this out with my AD-SHUFFLE pop.

Did you try varying background colors are at all ? That can be winner too!

Thanks for the share man! Where you linking to a product page within the penny auction site on these or just to the main sign-up page?

10-06-2011 01:24 AM #7 maynzie (Moderator)

Just main sign up page

I like to keep things as simple as can be haha, ends up paying well for me

Would you care to share the dynamic insert script for the url? Thanks again!

10-06-2011 02:04 AM #9 randy (Member)

That's awesome, thanks for sharing this!! What action was required from the users before you got paid? Was it a simple sign-up, or a sign-up and fund?

I use this script from CTRtard.

http://ctrtard.com/affiliate-marketi...o-root-domain/

10-06-2011 04:28 AM #13 maynzie (Moderator)

Haha thats the dynamic insert I use

The user had to fund their account think it was a $80 bidpack

10-06-2011 06:39 AM #14 dpol (Member)

Thanks for good case study.
Yesterday I run similar campaign with audio.
I have 2 questions:
1. Have you tried audio?
2. In many cases your dynamic insertion will be partial domain name/keyword. For example, domain.c, .domain. etc. Does it impact the CTR?

10-06-2011 07:08 AM #15 maynzie (Moderator)

@dpol

This case study is not the entire campaign this is the blueprint so 70% of the work is done the rest is for the creative people to finish it off because this campaign is still producing the goods and also yeah the dynamic insertion I used is to .com custom made so cant give out sorry but its similar to CTRtards with added bit

10-06-2011 07:17 AM #16 scotty (Member)

pardon my dumb qn. how do i know if the script is working? as in i have copied and pasted the right code at the right place

10-06-2011 07:24 AM #17 m0thm4n (Member)

10-06-2011 09:42 AM #20 dpol (Member)

@maynzie
Maybe I was not clear, but I started my campaign before I read this thread. Just gave you audio idea

@m0thm4n

I would def say with Christmas right around the corner....def one case study I would jump on right now.....

10-06-2011 12:58 PM #25 clicktrack (Member)

Here is what I use to get the domain name only.

Just replace where you see $_GET['target'] with whatever variable is coming over with the keyword in it. Examples below.
http://test.com/index.php = Test.com
www.test.com/ = Test.com
test = Test

It will not solve issue if you have .test.com or test.co

If this is useful I could write a more robust one to cover more instances. Let me know if you want me to do that. By the way great case study.

Code:
//Strips out the http//, https// and www.
$url = str_replace('http://', '', str_replace('https://', '', str_replace('www.', '', $_GET["target"])));

//This line of code looks if there is a / in the keyword as many go deep into websites for urls.
// If so it will show keyword up to first /. It also makes the first letter a capital.
$url = ucfirst(strpos($url,'/') !== false ? substr($url,0,strpos($url,'/')) : $url);

Nice share. There are a ton of products this would work very well for. With the holidays approaching I have got a ton of ideas to tweak this for. Thanks!

Can you give us any insight on your ROI or your cost of traffic?

10-06-2011 05:24 PM #28 hvtopiwala (Member)

ever try running this on TV?

10-06-2011 05:26 PM #29 clicktrack (Member)

Also curious what your typical CTR to offer is and Conversion rates are.

10-06-2011 10:35 PM #30 maynzie (Moderator)

Just to let everyone know there is a bit more involved to this case study, what I did was lay down the foundations for you all because I find that when I teach people IM and give them campaigns, they learn nothing but if I give them the blueprint they learn so much faster, and have a lot more stable income.

The roi for this campaign was anywhere from 100% to 1500% depending on the product.

and I am running this on TV but I found it requires a different approach so thats another campaign thats doing well atm

And yeah Polar's right Christmas soon, if you do the right set up theres no reason why you couldn't quickly gain a large amount of cash.

Also I believe that the affiliates that take this case study and rip it to the exact will find the targets will become more expensive, so less traffic will come and roi will be considerably lower.

Also! This style of page doesn't just work for penny auctions, it can work for anything...

Good Luck everyone
