Hiring talent for product videos and testimonials

I'm about to conduct video interviews to create a digital product. For those that have done this before, do you get them to sign some sort of basic contract or agreement? Or, is a copy of the transaction sufficient to prevent them coming back and requesting more money (if it's promoted and becomes popular) or disputing the transaction?

My initial thoughts are to detail exactly what i'm paying them for and record the transaction etc.

You need a model release form (which is a basic mini contract) and with which the model grants you the rights to use the media in exchange for some compensation.

This is a basic model release form

If you are contracting models from abroad (not AUS) then this one will suffice. If you are contracting models from your own country, then you need to consult a lawyer so he prepares or validates the model agreement, that will be compliant with the local laws.
