Not sure where to start

Hi guys.

COMPLETE newbie here. Ok, so I've read the post that lets you know what hardware and software you'll need, but where do I actually start? I've been accepted into a Network (Addiliate), I have a traffic source (Avazu DSP), I have a server and photoshop, I don't have a traffic source as of yet, although I'm looking at Mobile Ad Scout, and I don't have a tracker although I'm looking at Voluum. I've read the guide to getting started but I have no idea what to do or where to start! Can someone point me in the direction?

Hi lightsofray! Welcome to STM!

For a new person, the easiest traffic types to start with would probably be either pop traffic or mobile display traffic. Since you've registered on Avazu, I'm assuming you're wanting to try mobile display?

If so, I got just the thing for you - caurmen's Mobile Cookbook!

If you use go2mobi as the traffic source, I believe you can get away with NOT using a tracker. Although it would just be a matter of time before you'll need to get one anyway.

I would also suggest that you sign up for more affiliate networks so you'll have more offers at your disposal. Some newbie-friendly networks are adsimilis, clickdealer, affiliaxe, appflood.

Best of luck and feel free to ask further questions.

(Disclaimer: STM does not endorse any affiliate networks or traffic networks. Please sign up to any network at your own discretion.)

Hey, @lightsofray, how are you?

Addiliate is a great network, as well as Adsimilis and Clickdealer, well we have all of them in trusted aff networks section, so it means, the all pre-settings are performed automatically (postback). As Amy emphasized go2mobi is also good traffic source, as well as popular affiliate newtworks added to our templates https://monosnap.com/file/5cFBajSeHA...IT6wXYb5ESDyB#. So, if you are looking for a tracker I'm sure you'll find interesting AdsBridge, that has a campaign wizard function to help newbies create their first campaigns on AdsBridge platform. Also there are lots of manuals available on our blog http://news.Adsbridge.com/

Actually, using tracking it's up to you, depending on your needs, so you can can also get away without it, as well as I'm not an expert of go2mobi ts, but pretty sure it doesn't provide advanced tracking features, like most tracker do. Let me know if you need any help with settings.

Regards

Hey lightsofray!

How are you?

First things first: you should decide what you want to promote and on which Ad Network. Even so, there’s one thing you’ll have to assume from the start. What is it? It’s the fact that you should start by going for mobile traffic! Why? It’s a type of traffic that’s growing pretty fast, with tons of volumes (which means it’s easier to scale into), with low average costs of impressions, great conversion rates (compared to Desktop traffic) and dozens of offers which give you a long range of choices. Moreover, billing solutions on mobile traffic are better than the ones on desktop. In fact, lots of carrier offers have the direct billing option, among others. Desktop, on the other hand, does not have the user’s billing data. This means that there’ll be an extra step in order for the user to subscribe. As a result, conversion rates will drop.

The next step will be choosing an Adnetwork to start working on. It’s important to understand that different networks will have different tools and features. Therefore, you have to be sure the network you choose will allow you to target the segments which are really giving you those cool positive margins.

The most crucial thing to do is to decide the traffic source. In order to do that, you’ll need to determine your targeting: which segment will you be starting with (Country/Carrier/OS). This is a fundamental moment. You must select that specific target based on your knowledge and analysis. At first, it’s important to start with a high volume/low payout country, since it’ll allow you to easily gather data. Another good advice is to have a broad target at the beginning, so that you cover all segments (devices/browsers/OS) and possible revenue sources.

Next step: selecting an Affiliate Network with the best offers available and that’s also simple to work with. Networks might have better or worse offers, depending on the segment you choose, so you’ll want to try different offers from different networks. Tip: try selecting one with a good Account Manager! Trust me, it’s a big plus!

Regarding tracking platforms: nowadays, every Affiliate network and Adnetwork has a minimum level of data tracking so you don’t need to worry about it from the start. After evolving and growing your scale, you might reach a point where you’ll need a tracking platform in order to have access to even more data.

Hope I’ve been able to help!

Cheers!

Curious: Did you get your business off the ground? If so, how are things going now? (I'm also a newbie) Cheers Tony
