Hey all,
I have been running a few ecommerce stores with unbranded products via aliexpress. If I were to take the leap to branded products, what would I have to do to protect myself / not get caught? I dont fully understand the legality of it all / if I can get in trouble by the bigdogs. I would be dropshipping the products through aliexpress.com
From what I understand so far, for facebook advertising I will have to cloak and assume I will get accounts banned / be prepared for it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks all
(I'm not an attorney, definitely speak to one first before taking my advice...) You are exponentially more likely to get in trouble, unless they show you a license that proves that they have permission from someone from that company to manufacture and distribute their products. Not only that, but you need to have a license to sell most branded products, in the US or not. They can easily Photoshop or fake one, so be careful of that. Trademark counterfeiting in the US is a federal crime that carries 7-figure fines and serious jailtime. AliExpress is known for a ton of geek trademark counterfeited products, shoes, apparel, electronics, and obviously much much more. Just do your research and be very careful with what you buy (and sell). Remember that most of the people in China selling knockoffs have no regard for your legal well-being and are just looking for a dollar. Tread with caution on AliExpress. I recommend finding a supplier in the US. Margins will be lower, but you will stay out of trouble.
