I was wondering if anyone really uses countdown timers or phrases like "only 5 spaces left" etc on their adult landing pages?
I have been experimenting with these over the past few days and haven't really noticed much difference in conversion rate.
I know that "scarcity" in theory supposed to cause people to be more impulsive and have more of an urge to act immediately, but I haven't really noticed a difference.
Curious to your thoughts and if you have noticed big improvements in CVR when implementing these.
Of course!
In general. The more spammy an ad looks, the more feeling of "scarcity" or "losing-out-on-something" the user has, the better it works both in terms of increasing your CTR and CR!
If you look at the top results on spy tools you'll see most of the landers and deploying all the tactics at once. They vibrate, have popups, limited spots, countdown timers and fake testimonials.
For sure.
"But you should always test". - i guess that can be a signature to a majority of posts on various lander stuff
Spytools results aside, let's use my personal experience here : if you overdo this, it will even hurt your conversions. I tested this in and out and while the right use of scarcity tricks can boost your conversions, it's not the hidden trick to insane ROI.
Users/surfers are not idiots, well some are, but it's not the norm. So instead of insulting their intelligence, use common sense here
Examples from my own experience :
- "open just today" worked better than "open just for 5 more minutes"
- "limited spaces available" worked better than "only 3 spots remaining"
same for location targeting
- "in your area" will beat calling out the town with inaccurate GEO location targeting
Make it sounds BELIEVABLE !!!
27 chicks within 50km from your area are looking to hook up, register now! Limited spots available for today. - this sounds like it could be true
320 horny chicks from Smallville are dying to meet you. They will all go away if you don't register withing 5 minutes since we only have one more spot open. - this doesn not: )
You can push it in the edge, but don't go over it. Such is my experience
