PopCash has been my go 2 source (8)

PopCash has been my go 2 source

Hello,

I have been testing sweeps solely on PopCash for about three months. In some training outside of STM, I was told to focus on one traffic source.

Now, I am reading that people seem to use multiple sources. I am starting to wonder if PopCash's limited targeting means that I should consider sources such as PopAds, AdCash and other with broader targeting. Is my thinking correct here?

In testing, what's a good rule of thumb for testing traffic sources? In other words, should I stick with one source? Or should I split test sources at the start of the campaign?

I keep finding good offers that convert but after spending about $60-100 they're only reaching like -65-85 ROI.

I am including my current campaign. I have spent $40. I tested two bids ($11.01 and $5.32) Turns out the lower bid returned four of the five conversions.

One offer has 3 conversions and the other offer has two conversions.

This is a iphone giveaway in Bulgaria with two offers and three landing pages.

I am unsure if I should keep going with this based on the data. I thought maybe I should move it to PopAds because of the broader targeting options.

Any feedback would be great!

Thanks,
Success1

Hi SS1,

Ask your AM which traffic sources your offer is rocking it out on, then deep dive into that source using your spy tools. By doing this you'll have confidence that your traffic source is a good one and hopefully you've done the same thing with regard to your offer. Now....

As for your negative ROI, this is likely a funnel issue. Your BGCBA lander is killing the CTR, but with little conversions (see stat sig comment below)! Look at your angle. Maybe ppl are landing at an offer they weren't expecting or maybe they're just plain confused and could use a little help before clicking your CTA.

Make sure you're testing to statistical significance (plenty of posts and tools in STM - look up Vortex for great tutorial on stat sig)!

Best of luck!

3 months? Wow! I'd say you're ready to venture to other traffic sources!

Also, once you have a green campaign, you'll want to scale that to other sources anyway, so yes - now would be as good a time as any to start exploring.

As for starting each campaign by split-testing across traffic sources - pros and cons. Doing so will give your camp a better chance to perform, but will also cost you double the test budget. So - your choice.

The only major targeting option popads has that popcash doesn't, is carrier targeting. Are your Bulgarian offers performing well on carrier traffic?

Also - your bids seem quite high for a geo like BG. Have you tested lower bids? Also, how many landers have you tested in total? (If just the 3 you should test more.) And how many offers? (If just the two versions of the same offer then you should test more - preferably 2-3 from more than one aff network.)

There are very few bad traffic sources - if you're not having success with popcash, I would suggest examining your methodology first - as much as I believe that exploring new traffic sources would be a good idea as well!

Vortex already answered all your question and gave you all the advice you need, but let me explain one more thing for you.

There a few simple reasons why everyone recommends to stick to one source at the beginning - it's not a good idea to jump from one source to another straight away because it will split your budget into smaller amounts and you will never really learn how to properly use any of them. At the beginning, it's important to learn the basics, to learn how to optimize and target properly and for all of that, one source is just fine. As soon as you learn the basics and feel more confident about your actions, feel free to start using as many sources as you can possibly manage.

Sometimes you will not make a source work for you no matter how hard you try, so when this happens it's actually a must to leave that source for a while and start somewhere else. Otherwise, the frustration will kill your AM career.

Thanks for the feedback Amy! You hit the nail on the head here.

I don't want to make it seem like I am blaming PopCash. Truth is the support has been amazing from PopCash.

My sticking point really has been not testing enough landers and offers and offers from other affiliate networks.

Time to get to work!

Another tip:

These BG offers used to do well last year, for a short period of time. They got saturated pretty quickly, and they still are now, it's a small country. Maybe new ones have been launched but still.

Source: am Bulgarian, have tested the BG sweeps, even on BG sources unknown to most affiliates.

Three months is plenty of time to get your feet wet and by now you should be comfortable enough to test more offers, GEOs and traffic sources.

How does your AM get that information? I tried asking my AM about that for a spcific offer, but she said she doesn't have that information.

Its not a major one, but I also haven't been able to find day parting.

This depends on the network and particular AM, some know this, some don't. AMs are talking with affiliates, some share this info with them. They can also see something from the referer info, they also use spytools and see what is running on what sources etc ... The way I see this, they shouldn't share info they get from affiliates, but of course many of them do that anyways.
