Newbie fighting with tracking (Terminology, Go2mobi and Adsbridge)

Hi guys,
I've been reading, studying and trying a lot about tracking but since things in guides are sometimes different in the platforms I'm using now I'm quite confused and I'd need four explanations. Sorry for "too newbie questions"

1.I'm getting quite confused with this three terms.

Postback Url
Callback code
Sub-id

In my affiliate network panel I'm asked a callback code and/or a sub-id. After reading various guides I came up with this S2S postback URL "http://mboyl.ab4all.com/trackpixel/track?tid=#S2#&amt=#RATE#". I entered this in the Sub-id field on the affiliate network's offer page.
Have I done it right? What makes me confused is the fact that such tokens like "s1" appear both when talking about postback urls, subid and callback codes. Please help

2.I'm going with Adsbrisge as tracker and Go2mobi as traffic source. Both of them ask me for tokens regarding the destination Url in Go2Mobi.

Do I have to complete the destination Url with tokens I'm given by my tracker or by my traffic source?

3. In Go2Mobi I have one destination Url but several banners. How do I set up the campaign Url so that I know which banners was clicked? This should be a matter of tokens

4. In the Appetizer it is said to link Go2Mobi to the Affiliate Network. Using a self-hosted tracker this shouldn't be done since we link traffic source to tracker and tracker to affiliate network. Correct?

Thanks in advance

1) Subid is the click ID as mentioned in "How to understand Tracking", which I know you've been reading.

In order to answer the other questions I'll need to know what system your affiliate network is using. Is it on Cake, Hasoffers, or something else? If you give us a screenshot of the page asking for a callback code we can probably help more.

Also, your affiliate manager should be able to help with setup questions like this.

2) I've not yet gotten around to testing Adsbridge (although the Adsbridge folk have very kindly given me a login, and I'll be testing it after AWE), so I'm not super-familiar with the workflow, but I would expect that you need to set Go2Mobi up as a traffic source in Adsbridge. You'll need to enter all Go2Mobi's tokens in there, and that will then let Adsbridge auto-generate you a link that you use in Go2Mobi. So in short 1) look up tokens in Go2Mobi 2) Enter them in Adsbridge 3) Take the link adsbridge provides after you've set your campaign up and enter that as your link in the Go2Mobi campaign.

3) You're correct, that's the token. Specifically, that's {crid}: Go2mobi creative id.

4) Yes, that's correct. Don't link to the aff network directly.

Let me know if you have any more problems!

First of all, thank you so much for your time and patience! Really!
I still have some doubts anyway

1) Here is a screenshot of the affiliate network (Maxbounty) offer page showing the "sub-id and callback" section. What is this? Hasoffer? Cake?

Now it is no longer there (why?) but the other day I add this link in the sub-id field: http://mboyl.ab4all.com/trackpixel/t...S2#&amt=#RATE#. I got this directly from Adsbridge which has Maxbounty in its affiliate network templates as you can see from this other screenshot.

Until here, it seems to me that I did right but here comes the super-confusion
What really drives me mad is this part. This is taken from Adsbridge guide.

If I'm not going wrong they say I have to add a tid token at the end of the offer page URL (that I'm given by my AN). I asked my AM but I was told that they don't provide tokens on their end and that I have to look in my tracking platform. I thought "ok, I'm going to find the way somehow" but that's what appears and confuses me when I create a new offer in my tracker

This is where you add offers in Adsbridge and the "URL" field is where you paste the offer page link. In the screenshot where I pointed out they say I have to add a tid token at the end of it but it mustn't be the same used before. Moreover, if you watch closely, you'll see that some tokens (included the "tid" one) are in a lighter yellow case and cannot be added. This is the part where I really got lost .
Question here is one. What token do I have to add?

2,3) Ok Go2Mobi too was in Adsbridge templates and I added it.
That's what came out

In the postback Url of the screenshot I added the link that Go2mobi gives while creating a campaign.

Is this correct? Do I have to change the last tokens in the same way you suggested to do in the Appetizer?

Adsbridge gives me back this long campaign Url with all the tokens that were automatically loaded by Adsbridge. I also see the "crid" tokens and between the braces tha name of the clicked banners will appear. Correct?

Hey, @davidep, how are you?

1.Terms

- Postback URL- s2s pixel, that you need to paste on your affiliate network side, so that affiliate network could send unique click id of the user back on AdsBridge when the conversion is happened.

If you choose a trusted affiliate network or network from our templates, you’ll see a preset postback in this field which you need to copy and paste into your affiliate network. If you create an affiliate network from the start, you can insert all the necessary macros of an affiliate network in this postback, save it, and later use it for all offers of this affiliate network. Usually, the S2S postback is put here however if your affiliate network works only with https postbacks, you should use a secure S2S.

Some words about AdsBridge s2s postback and it's parameters.
This is a template of the postback -
http://xxxxx.ab4all.com/trackpixel/t...ACE&cdata=YOUR _CUSTOM_DATA&status=REPLACE

xxxxx - your unique subdomain in our system
tid – is used for passing the AdsBridge click ID from affiliate network back to tracker. It is the only required parameter in the postback without which conversions won’t be passed. After the “=” sign in this parameter, you need to insert affiliate network macro instead of YOUR_NETWORK_TOKEN, which will be replaced by the value that came in a parameter entered in the Tracking Sub ID field when setting an offer.
amt – passes the dynamic value of a payout by conversion.
txid – is set only for CPS offers. It allows tracking of several conversions from one click ID.
cdata – passes any parameter straight to the source traffic without saving on our side.
status - passes the status of conversion, if your affiliate network provides such kind of option.

To set the postback correctly, you need to substitude placeholders like YOUR_NETWORK_TOKEN, REPLACE with the relevant parameters of your affiliate network and delete the part of the postback, that won't transfer any information.

- Callback code- AdsBridge doesn't have such kind of term on it's platform. I'm pretty sure that it is connected with s2s postback or tracking pixels (we also have tracking pixels by the way)

- Sub-id - as usual it's also called parameter, macros, token. Sub Ids are the definite values which can be added to your campaign URL for passing their values from a traffic source to AdsBridge, or target site. On Adsbridge it's called token. So it's better to ask your affiliate network support about this term.

s1 - it's a parameter of your affiliate network for transfering click id. And Adsbridge provides s2 parameter in MaxBounty template. You need to choose and set the same parameter as on AdsBridge side, as on maxBounty side, as in postback URL.

As far as I know, MaxBounty uses it's own platform that is not Cake or HasOffers. As for these settings - http://take.ms/6pMsE - please, contact your affiliate network representatives, so that they could guide you.

2.AdsBridge has Go2Mobi template on it's platform. Please, check it -http://take.ms/j8GXj
After you add this traffic source in campaign setting, you will receive a link of campaign that you will need to paste on traffic source side to activate tracking. Also, I would like to warn you, that you also need to add offer in targetting settings so that tracking could work correctly.
as for your questions about tokens from your traffic source and tracker, are they different? It would be truly strange as we use actual ones in template.

3.{crid} parameter of Go2mobi serves for Creative ID.

4.Yes, you're correct. If you use tracker you need to paste your offer link as offer on AdsBridge (http://news.Adsbridge.com/createoffer/), add it in campaign settings (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABtymJY_2xc) and paste campaign URL on your traffic source side.

P.S.
As for offer settings - http://take.ms/nmukN . You could learn more about offer settings here - http://news.adsbridge.com/createoffer/
+According to your screenshots your traffic source is set correctly for now
+ banner's id you will see if you select tokens checkboxes in AdsBridge stats

Thx @caurmen for you help, hope to meet you at the conf!

Please, contact AdsBridge support for further detailed guidance

Hi Alex,

Fine thanks, how are you?

Thank you for your detailed and clear reply.
I'm working to launch 3 offers and I have changed AN (that is also in your templates ) with which setting up tracking is quite easy. I've had some little issues with the affiliate links because some of them appeared to be down although I was using VPN. My AM assured me that they are ok and we speculated that could be my VPN that's not working fine. What do you think about it?

Thank to you and Caurmen I'm close to fully understand tracking and I really like Adsbridge. Anyway, I'd need some other explanation regarding Adsbridge

1. I've seen that you suggest to add either a click URL or a long piece of code to the CTA button? What is the difference between them? And how do I know which is the right one?

2. While creating/editing a campaign there is an "advance" section in which I see a "cost value" field. What should I do with this? Add the payout? Is this mandatory?

3. I haven't this part clear yet. The one in the red square here . Could you please explain?
Attachment 12005

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply I'm great! Will be glad to explain everything as detailed as possible, but please could you send the attrachment once again, as it shows invalid link.

I'm happy to help

1)there is no difference between click URL and CTA button code. They redirect to offer and count clicks. You could select only one of them to put on CTA button of lander. I advise you to use click URl as it's easier to implement it in code.

2)Cost section is for static value for your costs (that you spend for your traffic). Please, pay attention, that if you set this value, you need to select the correct currency and cost model, so that Adsbridge system could count your spends correctly and show them to you. Also, it's not a mandatory setting.

Also, please, share with me more details about your problems with VPN, as I'm not sure that understood you correctly.

About VPN. Simply affiliate link (given by affiliate network) that leads to the merchant's offer page doesn't work although I set my VPN on the correct country.
Although my AM assured me that's all ok I had more than 400 total visits but 0 conversions and Adsbridge says "not addressed to offer " in the Offer column. This makes me think that the affiliate link is....kaputt

EDIT. Maybe I'm wrong and the problem are Landing pages. Please take a look at this screenshot. For each user I have 1 or more clicks, 1 or more visits but 0 conversions. This could be because the most of the time users are not convinced with the landers and close it.

As you can see, all the users that have 0 clicks have also "not addressed to the offer" in the offer column. What do you think? Could it be a bad lander or something else?

One last question about iFrame and pixels. When creating an affiliate network, the postback URL is automatically created and can easily be pasted into the AN panel but with iFrame tracking this does not happen? Do I have to paste the Iframe code that's in the "tracking pixels" page in Adsbridge in the AN panel editing the "YOUR_NETWORK_TOKEN" and "REPLACE" parts?
I need to know because an offer I want to run asks for iFrame Tracking

Thank you very much Alex

As for the note on Tracking pixel page, it's talking about:
If you set in campaign settings or traffic source settings, that you will add to campaign same token as you set in offer settings, then it could cause a problem. As that tracking token that you will swt in offer settings is very important and serves for transferring click id value between affiliate network and AdsBridge, so you just need to use the correct one in offer settings, and the correct token for traffic source to avoid issues. You could learn more about offer and traffic source settings from these articles - http://news.Adsbridge.com/createoffer/ , http://news.adsbridge.com/traffic-source-creation/

Regarding "not addressed to offer" value in stats, you could see it only if you use lander in campaign, as it is shown only when user comes through campaign link but doesn't click on CTA button that links to the offer and close the lander. By the way, wich type of lander do you use? (cretaed in AdsBridge LP builder or self-hosted one)

To your last question about pixels, yes, you need to replace placeholders like YOUR_NETWORK_TOKEN" and REPLACE with the relevant parameters of your affiliate network and then delete that parts of this link that won't transfer any information.

Feel free to contact our support, if you once need any help

Ok now I see. It was easy. I got confused because in the guide "traffic source" and "offer" weren't mentioned and for a newbie this created mess. Thank you anyway

Self hosted. However, I'm going to upgrade my Adsbridge subscription and maybe use the provided ones .
I think that my flops happened because I was running a landing pages and the tracking reports demonstrated it

Hi Alex,
I need your help about the correct creation of a Cake offer Url in Adsbridge.
In Cake (as you can see in the image reading the underlined part) is suggested to use another token for sub-id (not s1) if I'm using unique click id. Could you please tell me something about this unique click-ids and how I have to arrange the offer url to set in Adsbridge?

Name:	cake.png
Views:	26

For example, when writing the offer url in Adsbridge do I have to change the "s1" token you see in the picture to "s2"? Do I have to add something else or simply leave it as it is?

Thanks in advance

08-09-2016 08:22 PM #13 shepherd (Member)

For some reason you can't pass unique clickid's in s1 in Cake. I just put my campaign id in s1 or something, in case there is a quality issue or something. That way I can backtrack what campaign it came from and possibly change it. I put the unique clickID in s2.
The offer URL would then be something like this: http://simstrx.com?a=12345&c=67890&s1=whateveryouwant&s2= <tid> (If I remember <tid> is the Adsbridge clickid token)

Hope this makes sense and helps you. Hit me up on skype if you need any help! I'd be glad to chime in!

Hey, @davidep, the Cake’s parameters in which you can transmit the unique click ID are the following: s2, s3, s4, s5. The s1 parameter can’t be used here.
You have to definitely change it to s2.

Hence, in order to place the AdsBridge unique macro into the URL, it is necessary to:

mark the “Tracking Sub ID” checkbox
type the parameter’s name “s2” in the field

Here is the clickdealer example http://take.ms/3KfLz

You can read more about Cake and AdsBridge setup in our guide http://news.Adsbridge.com/how-to-set...akes-platform/

Thank you guys for your useful replies.

I have set the tracking in Adsbridge as said in that guide.
My only doubt is this. If I have this campaign link "http:\\simtxrr.com\?a=47878&c=dhfjhs&s1=" do I have to change it to "http:\\simtxrr.com\?a=47878&c=dhfjhs&s2=" because the "s1" token can't be used? By reading the guide it seems to me that this must not be done.

Thanks

The s1 token CAN be used, just not for passing the unique clickID. You can fill it with anything you want. As I already said, I always fill it with something that makes sense to me, for example my campaign ID, or something else that can possibly have meaning to me (like trafficsource_id, lp_id, etc). Just make sure you put the clickid (<tid>) in s2, as per alexom's explanation.
Your final link will then be http:\\simtxrr.com\?a=47878&c=dhfjhs&s1=<campaign_ id>&s2=<tid>

Thanks guys.

There's a news . Moved by ignorance I wrote this kind of offer URL in Adsbridge "http:\\simtxrr.com\?a=47878&c=dhfjhs&s2=" but conversion was correctly passed anyway

Please, coudl you share with me more details about this link - http:\\simtxrr.com\?a=47878&c=dhfjhs&s1= ? IS this your offer link? If yes, do you use affiliate network based on CAKE?
This information will help me to guide you correctly
