50onred - optimized links

hey gals and guys,

been digging through mobile networks and visiting with my ams this week to come up with campaigns. already started a set of mobile campaigns and a follow along but i also wanted to dive into pops

while researching i came across a couple networks that provide optimized links. i have worked with them before running ytz arbitrage but i had yet to see them provided by my networks. since i enjoy optimizing traffic more than coming up with offer ideas i decided to give this a go

offer: non-adult optimized link
country: qatar
payout: variable
platform: 50onred
tracking: custom

i chose 50onred because i already have funds there and am familiar with their interface. they also have an api so once i get a flow going i can automate my campaigns to make optimizing easier at scale

my research indicates qatar is an active tier 3 country and the traffic is very affordable so i am starting there

trigger pulled

keep in mind that their traffic is adware generated so you may find it hard to buy mobile traffic

funny because that was my initial thought as well but the campaign setup has the choice of mac os, windows, ios, and android. i selected ios and android and there has been plenty mobile traffic so far

i pulled some stats and out of 8,313 hits so far the breakdown is:

4400 android
3872 ios
41 other

there are some tablets in the mix but there are a few conversions on those hits so it appears the optimized links detect that and put the right offer in front of them

w00t, I tried their mobile targeting last year but they had barely any traffic. how many impressions are you buying per day in qatar with them?

looks like only about 10k a day but i was mainly looking for a starting point to get the system down

what is interesting though is there are two channels that are starting to look like they might be profitable out of the gate. possibly even more now that i realized what proxy bidding is lol. i was paying a fixed bid by default and now i am getting hits for less than before with proxy bidding enabled

i am curious to see how this evolves because my understanding is the optimized links will rotate and test the offers based on the traffic over time

so in my mind the experiment is:

1) how does performance increase as the network optimizes?
2) how do new channels perform?
3) how much does the traffic grow over time?

obviously not expecting too much from smaller countries like this but the profits can add up across multiple geos. plus if i can auto-optimize the traffic via api it might mean i can manage significantly more campaigns since i do not have to work on the offer/creative/testing side

dude 10k/day mobile only is not bad for qatar. brb gotta monetize that shit

glad i was able to create my own competition

cool thing is they approve pretty quickly. if this keeps up i will definitely be scaling out horizontally into other geos this coming week

interesting results so far. things went well on saturday:

6/25
7,442 clicks
42 signups
$33.24 revenue
$59.06 cost
-43.72% roi

i optimized and was expecting to start seeing the roi reverse but then on sunday the ecpm tanked:

6/26
5,888 clicks
18 signups
$6.43 revenue
$29.04 cost
-77.86% roi

looking at the conversion history i found the higher paying commissions stopped so it appears those offers were paused. i contacted network support and they confirmed that was the case

turns out the network has a reporting api so i can use that along with the 50onred api to monitor for shifts in momentum and pause/redirect traffic. an absolute must considering how volatile this could end up being

ended up starting a whitelist qatar campaign based off of the converting domains but there is not enough traffic or conversions to make it worth while so i paused it. since that higher paying offer was paused it appears the campaign cannot be made profitable at this point. very disappointing because the first 24 hours was very promising

started a new optimized link campaign in the uae and am taking the approach of leaving all channels open but blacklisting domains as they reach a certain amount of clicks without a conversion. i started blacklisting at 500 and then 200 and now 100 clicks without a conversion. i know most would say that is not enough clicks to determine profitability but i am quickly realizing that some domains just either convert well or not at all

pretty much every profitable domain so far had sales within the first 100 clicks and more at 200 then 300, etc. i think i am going to roll out a much more horizontal strategy by running multiple geos and blacklist domains that do not convert within 100 clicks. since the campaigns cannot be optimized it makes sense to just sniff out the big winners and shut off everything else as quickly as possible

once i have some clear winners i am going to use my vpn to visit the optimized link from that country to figure out which offers are being promoted. then i can run some separate whitelist campaigns using those specific types of offers on just the profitable, converting domains which will allow me to further optimize

this is definitely getting interesting

ended up pausing qatar. the traffic died off pretty quickly while blacklisting domains. without the higher paying offer converting it does not look like this campaign was going to catch up

18,906 impressions
74 conversions
$40.36 revenue
$92.67 cost
-56.45% roi

uae was clearly not performing from the beginning:

16,778 impressions
4 conversions
$10.86 revenue
$57.60 cost
-81.15% roi

found another set of optimized links with another network. its a three day weekend so i will have to get it running on tuesday

more results to come

let things run for a couple weeks while i was out of town conducting other business. seems it would require a global campaign to sniff out the profitable geos along with significant time for the optimized links to optimize based on the traffic. overall this would take a much larger budget than what i am willing to throw at this right now

i am stopping these campaigns to focus on running offers that i can optimize myself
