Why do Advertisers run AV Pin Submit Offers?

Hey all -

My underlying question is - how to AV Pin Submit offers really WORK? What exactly is in it for the advertiser to run a AV pin submit offer and pay affiliates out for it?

I ask because I'm trying to understand what I'm running from all angles (and I'm a newb).

If any clarifications are needed, please let me know, thanks!

User subscribes and gets charged $$$ and the advertiser gives him antivirus app in return.

It's a subscription service putting a few dollars per week on your phone bill and in exchange you get a cheaply made or licensed antivirus app. Antivirus is chosen as a product because its an easy way to persuade someone to sign up saying their phone could be infected. The person gets scared their phone might be in danger, signing up in a heartbeat hopefully without reading the part where it says how much it costs. Then hopefully the user stays on the subscription for a long time and the product owners make money. The product owners know that on average a customer will stay on for X weeks, and can afford to pay an affiliate a part of that amount for each new customer they bring.

Hi tpm767,

Pin submit offers have specific flows:

1. User clicks on the banner;

2. User clicks on the confirmation button;

3. User receives a PIN via SMS and inserts it on the page;

4. User is subscribed.

Once the user is subscribed, he'll be charged, let’s say for the Antivirus, according to the specifications of the offer (price and period).

From the point of view of the advertisers, you have to understand that ARPU (Average Revenue per User) is all that matters. This parameter is calculated by taking the total revenue and dividing it by the total number of users, allowing advertisers to track their performance and growth.

By knowing how much they earn per user, they’ll calculate the CPA (cost per acquisition) for the publishers. Beware, though: advertisers will adjust the CPA according to the quality of the publishers' traffic. This means that – for the same offer - publishers that display more conversions on the total number of visits will have higher CPAs.

Hope my answer has made it all clear for you!

Cheers!

I would like to add that PIN submit and SMS offers in general allow bumping offers.

If network have direct connection to advertiser, advertiser can see ARPU from specific affiliates than increase / descrese payout for that offer because
some affiliates can bring users which stay subscribed longer or get more % billed.

Antivirus offers are convertible because of combination of angle (your phone is infected) and option to monetize (sms, direct bill, pay in google play) .

All of the above are great answers. Just wanted to add that these are called VAS (Value added services) or Mobile Subscriptions and they aren't only in the form of AV but also Whatsapp Backgrounds, Adult content and pretty much anything a company can make defendable.
