Facebook + Shopify - add to cart vs purchased

Hey guys,

We just started promoting free + shipping products on Facebook for our Shopify store. We are making sales but the purchase rate is extremely low.
To be more specific:
Added to Cart: 39.30%
Reached Checkout: 18.37%
Purchased: 2.79%

Are these numbers normal or do you think there is room for improvement?

If you are also doing Facebook + Shopify feel free to PM for my Skype.

We have made some improvements to the website and campaigns with the following results:
Added to Cart: 44.66%
Reached Checkout: 26.40%
Purchased: 2.53%

In my opinion the purchase percentage is still extremely low and I don't understand why.
Would be great if anyone could share their numbers.

Yeah seems low to me. What is your shipping price?

Only $4,99. Might be to low or just not the right product.
I will be trying 3 other products in the same niche today.

What country are visitors vs. the product located in? What is the shipping time?

What have Shopify said in response to this?

The visitors are mainly from US and UK. The product is shipped directly from China which takes 2-4 weeks.
We haven't contacted Shopify about this yet because I think the issue is not with them.

It's still not much but we keep on improving everyday:
Added to Cart: 45.85%
Reached Checkout: 30.13%
Purchased: 3.93%

If its $4.99 I don't think its too expensive. Probably the product or targeting or something else.

As we received some PM's about this I thought I'd write a quick update. We are still running this store with the same purchase percentage but we are profitable now. The margin on our products was just to low before, after we increased our prices the add to cart and purchase percentage stayed the same but we actually started making money.

Tighten your targeting and definitely do retail products where you earn a higher percentage and offer free shipping in USA if possible. ROAS (return on adspend) is the most important metric in e-com. You want to be minimum 3x ROAS at the end of each day so after you fulfill your net is above 100%.

Make sure you're emailing, running retargeting/DPA ads and have a cart abandonment app running. ALOT of your sales will come from those. For your product page make sure the ad and the product page is congruent. So if you have a video ad running, the product page should have a related video. Go direct to checkout and skip the cart for increased ROI. Offer bundles of the same product in variations if you're going direct to checkout though to increase your AOV (average order value). Additionally, product description should identify the problem and explain the solution, have trust badges, moneyback guarantees and encourage them to buy the bundles to save more.
