My Direct is doing better than LP - My First Campaign

Hai STM,

I came from SEO background. I want to try paid traffic and gone through STM and finally started a week ago.

Story: (If you have patience)
Day 0: I applied in 5 networks. Got approval in one(stm helps) and immediately started buying pop under to send directly without tracker. It was some CPI and I spent 10 USD and made 3 USD. Smiled.
Then I installed Funnelflux and same got approval from another network. Based on my AM recommendation, I tried Adult offer - my first campaign in funnel flux.

Day 1: I started with popads where I set budget as 15 USD and I was reading STM. I checked my popads after 20 mins and shocked all money done.
Day 2: I chosen 5 Geo. I disappointed to see this happened. I checked my tracker and noticed 7 sales. Big smile. Eyes opened wide and checked from where my sales came. It was 5 sales from 1 Geo and 2 more from another.
Day 3: I immediately targeted only the good Geo with budget 15 USD and made 20 USD. I am kind of test tube baby in AM. But seeing Green I felt lucky.
Day 4: I again checked website id - noticed all sales came from 3 ids. Targeted only those 3 websites on next day. Made +50% ROI.
Day 5: I made one more campaign in popads, with giving my success website and got recommended websites - picked 10 excluding my success list Spent 15 USD, got breakeven. Tada - Got 3 more good websites where people are converting. Edited campaign to target only my new 3 websites.
Day 6: Now I got 2 campaigns in popads, I got +40% to +60% ROI. Same day I did another test my another GEO, but it was -10%. So conversions are coming but I need to learn the system first. So paused it.
Day 7 **** Today : Made 4 ripped LPs. Split my traffic for all. But today my tracker is showing -5% Good thing - conversions are coming from LPs. But bad compared to my direct experience. The campaign is still running and few more hours left.

Need Help :
Last 3 days --> 52 conversions -> 47 -> 54 -> Today so far 17 Conversions still 6 hours left. (usually 27+)

I will share my experience and seeking experts to make my campaign successful.

(Still I got rejected in Max & Milis, Hope will get approval soon by showing my Green records)

Hi xg33kx,

It seems that direct flow is the way to go for now!

You should remember that – in order to optimize - you should gather enough data. If you don’t have reliable data, it’s gonna be harder for you to make the best possible decisions.

Regarding websites: spend more time testing their performance (a full day, at least.)

1. You shouldn’t keep only the ones where you’ve got conversions and completely ignore the other ones (even with a low number of impressions) because they can have a good performance but you just failed to give them time to perform. Remember not to cut everything that’s negative. A website with a ROI of -5% can become positive with a small optimization.

2. Good websites: I suggest you split them if a) they have more than one conversion; b) you’re having low costs with conversions; c) both of these cases.

3. Costly websites: if they spend 2x the value of your conversion (payout) you should stop them. If you have a low number of conversions, you should fight for this particular website on a new campaign. How? Separate this website into a new campaign and place a safe bid by measuring the eCPM (earning per 1000 impressions). You’ll pay only what you can for these ones

As you may have noticed, placing your bid is super important! On your campaigns, make sure your bidding is correct and adjusted to your eCPM (same as in the costly website example). You’ll also have to be certain you’re receiving great quality traffic (the higher your bid, the more traffic quality you’ll get). Having a correct bid plays an important role when finding good websites, devices, etc.

Regarding your concerns about fewer conversions in the last days: remember that even the best campaigns can have lower-performance days. It’s perfectly normal. What to do in order to fight that? Make sure your campaigns were built on solid targeting and with the correct bid (always calculate how much you’re willing to pay for your traffic).

I’ll circle back to my first advice: be certain that you find the right target and get a good position in the bid rank.

Let me know if these tips have helped you!

Good luck!

Cheers!

Wow! Green from the start! Talk about starting with a BANG!

This is what I would do now if I were you:

1)For your profitable geos: Drill down into your tracker stats, see which OSs and carriers are profitable. Then scale those geos with the profitable targeting, to other traffic sources. Popads is great, but there are many other sources that have good adult traffic. Zeropark, Exoclick, and many others. (Disclaimer: STM does not endorse the use of any traffic source. Please exercise due diligence before choosing to work with a traffic source.)

2)On popads, target ALL geos the offer accepts traffic from. Don't use one camp to target all geos - set up one camp per geo. Bid a bit higher than the "average bid" the traffic estimator tells you, to get good quality traffic. If you get conversions for a geo, you can test different bids later to find out which bid is best.

3)Whenever you find a new profitable geo - scale that too!

It sounds like the offer is doing very well! In this case, I would suggest NOT to set up a whitelist of placements - that would just limit your traffic. Instead, I would buy traffic from ALL placements, and keep checking every few minutes and pausing placements that are spending money but not converting.

And I would highly recommend focusing on scaling your profitable geos right now! Scaling is what will increase you profits by lots and lots. Watch your new campaigns very carefully and cut any campaign that isn't close to break-even. When you're setting up so many campaigns you can't afford to let loser campaigns drain money. Secondly, focus on testing more geos and scaling other promising geos.

And as Mobidea has pointed out - if direct-linking is working for you, there's no need to test landers for now!

Looking forward to your next update!

Amy
