My First Campaign/Ads... Probiotics VSL on Facebook.
Hey Everyone!
I am new to this forum too and have never done a follow-along. Any and all feedback, comments & advice will be much appreciated. I am in John Crestani's Super Affiliate Program and hope to become a Super Affiliate soon!
Here’s what I decided to start with…
I am advertising a Probiotics. I am pretty excited to get it going to see what happens. I hope that I have everything set up properly and that Voluum tracks the data.
Network: http://nutryst.com/
Traffic Source: Facebook
Offer: Probiotic
Lander Style: VSL
Tracker: http://Voluum.com/
Cloaker Used: none… Direct linking to white hat - Direct Linking - video sales landing page
Headlines:
I've changed these around here and there, but this is basically what I have...
Shocking Discovery: You’ll Never Believe What They Found Growing in Your Stomach. (goes with the weird fish image)
Do You Have Gut Yeast? (goes with the big belly image)
Do You Have Gut Yeast? Effects: Constipation, Bloating. (goes with the big belly image)
Side Effects Include: Gas, Bloating, Constipation, And Much More… (goes with big belly image)
The Root of All Stomach Problems? (goes with the weird worm images)
If You Have Gas, Bloating, Constipation or Upset Stomach. [Please Watch This] (goes with all images)
Targeting:
Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity News, and Diply
If Anyone has a good Lookalike for this vertical that they can share, then I'd really appreciate that! Let me know!
I chose to run this campaign on desktop only.
Bidding:
I set my bid at $0.25 CPC… I have NO clue where to set this. I figured that if I didn't get any impressions then I would boost the Bid until I started getting more impressions and clicks... suggestions?
[[UPDATE] --- Facebook Suggested bid: $3.99 USD($3.21–$5.17)
Is that something that we should follow or take into consideration? Manual is always better than Automatic bids right?
Should I change my bid to $2? or some other amount? ]
Budget:
$50 Per Day
I don't know how this will perform and what other people are doing to promote this, but any expert comments, suggestions, and feedback would be much appreciated... Helpful FB tips, and optimization and tweaks, etc as we go along. Thank you!
Cheers,
Blake
Hey Blake, I've stated this before, but be very wary of advertising on facebook, and I suggest you pass everything a facebook rep.
You can find facebook reps' emails by googling "@sales.fb.com" . Just message a bunch of them, explain your campaign, explain how you are a big marketing agency with big budgets, etc, and explain how you want to make sure that everything you do is in line with helping facebooks user experience, and the clients expectations.
Facebook is a bitch to deal with for many affiliates, that why I recommend to not JUST advertise on fb...
Make sure to read fbs ad policies here --> https://www.facebook.com/policies/ad...ricted_content
"Supplements: Ads that promote acceptable dietary and herbal supplements may only target users who are at least 18 years of age." --- make sure to set the lower limit of your age targeting to 18 if you are just trying to use custom audience targeting.
"Subscription services: Ads for subscription services, or that promote products or services that include negative options, automatic renewal, free-to-pay conversion billing products, or mobile marketing are subject to our subscription services requirements found here."
If you keep a rep in the loop with everything you're doing, make yourself out to be a trustworthy organization/person, make sure the product you're promoting is in line with what facebook wants, and avoid any trigger words (weight loss, lose weight, etc) in your ads, you should be able to be fine. Its a lot of rgulation to deal with, but the payoff is obviously worth it.
No idea about facebook but I had my share with vsl on native here is some of things I learned:
1- Dont ignore mobile native traffic , CR is lower but its cheaper. some cps do convert on mobile , surprising I know but it happens.
2- Clickbank is the best source for vsl health niche offers ( if you want to do cps ) and you can find all sort of crazy sub niches you cant find on most networks away from your normal skin and diet pill , ED , reverse hair , all this sweet juice , you can try it also on facebook but I have no experience with this
3- Its hard to do it softcore on native , so I assume its impossible softcore on facebook
Hope this helps mate , happy testing
I wanted to post a few screenshots of what I'm doing... So you can get a better idea of what I'm actually running... Am I wasting my time with this offer on FB? Let me know where I can improve the ads.
UPDATE:
- I duplicated the Ad Set and set the bid to automatic... which will increase my Click Cost but I want to get enough traffic to have the data for optimization on the ads.
- I have also optimized the ad set to target Women 40-65+ because that is where I saw my clicks coming from. Did I change that too soon?
(see screen shot of data)
With the VSL, I cannot tweak anything on the lander and cannot bid based on conversion... Does this hurt me significantly? I guess, its one step at a time... Ads > Landers... Once I get clicks, then move to Landers.
I am going to try and find another ad network... potentially RevContent or Outbrain. I'll keep you posted.

I love the action taking!
I notice you're using some of the ads from the Probiotics swipe file I provided.
Some of those are banner ads, that have less more than 25% text in the image, and those will be banned if you continue to run them.
Also, I would check to make sure that whatever ad copy you are using is not swiped directly, and that you are using your own text.
Watch my copywriting videos for ideas on how to innovate ad copy, and write stories that convert.
Also, in general, if you want a good format for feedback on new campaigns, I would recommend you post the following information
1. Ad screenshots
2. Lander screenshot and/or link
3. Data by ad
4. Data by lander
5. Data by Device
6. Data by Browser
7. Data by browser version
8. Data by OS
9. Data by placement
10. Data by offer
When you post that data up, you will not only blow away most other follow-alongs, but you'll also get MUCH better feedback, since its easy for more experienced affiliates to easily pick out whats right and whats wrong with your campaigns when you provide that data.
From the get-go, I would suggest you use a simple lander, that prepares the user to watch a video (similar to the ones I covered in my Youtube videos on the Beverly Hills MD offer, and the Credit Secret offer.
This way, you would be able to at least start gathering an extra layer of data, that will allow you to optimize.
I would also suggest that you embed your images into your forum post using the bracket IMG bracket method, that way, the images show up in the post, and are easier/faster/conveniantly reviewed.
I hope that helps.
... Pausing this to get some things in order... Spending money and not seeing quality traffic due to mismanagement of targeting, etc.
I'll let you know when I'm back on it and optimizing for conversions. I am also going to try to create a lander for this, and run direct to the VSL, as well as the Lander to test more, etc.
One thing to consider when picking an offer.
Your conversion rate is going to be pretty low on a VSL offer. .5-1% is very "normal" that doesn't mean they don't work. But what it does mean is you need a LOT of clicks to make statistically relevant decisions. My guess is you know nothing on a campaign that converts at that level without at least 5-10k clicks. Depending on variances. So $50 budget isn't going to get you there....
Just something to think about when picking offers.
Are you even using Landers? I ask because I didnt see any Landing Page Capture
^ He did say directlink lol
Any updates? I am curious on this one myself. You should definitely look into an advertorial for a lander.
