Pop ups vs Pop unders in PopAds (10)

Pop ups vs Pop unders in PopAds

What is a recommended way to set this up to split test between pop ups vs pop unders? Right now I have 2 separate campaigns in PopAds and set up 2 separate campaigns in Voluum to track it. My plan is to start the 2 campaigns at the same time. Is this the correct way to set it up in Voluum?

Yes setting up 2 campaigns in voluum is fine, but why would you want to split-test popups with popunders?

You don't need to eliminate either of these. As long as you're profitable you can and should run both.

What I personally do, is use popunders to test and optimize my funnel (offer+lander+targeting) because usually that's where much of the traffic is, and once I get green I would set up camps for popups and tabups/unders.

If I haven't addressed your question, please elaborate and I'll take another shot.

Hey Amy thanks for replying. I actually did not know you can choose both when you set up the campaign, that is why I wanted to split test them because I did not know if one would perform better than the other. Would it be the box that is checked "Allow other methods when the chosen one is not available"? Anyway I couldn't wait for an answer and I wanted to launch the campaign already so they both have been running for about 48 hours now, and they both are performing exactly the same lol. I guess I will pause the popup campaign for now and save some money.

Hi,

You might want to let it run for a little bit more (given that the spend is manageable) to get more data.
It is possible that its too early to tell which would be the winner, especially since they are performing pretty much the same.

Plus getting more data will allow you to have a baseline of both and can look into scaling to the other type of Pops once the one you chose is optimized.

Best,
V

Hello,

I think Amy had misread your initial question, because making 2 campaigns for this - 1 for popups and 1 for popunders - would be the right way to do this. It's a different traffic type so it should be ran in a separate campaign, the pricing can be different too so by targeting both in one campaign, you would most likely be over-paying for one of them.

Nope don't think I did! The OP did say "split-test" and mentioned starting both camps at the same time - obviously he's wanting to compare performance between the two.

I guess he'll come back to ask for more clarification if needed...

Hehe, so now I'm the one confused Let's wait for the OP to chime in with more questions if there are any

Damn now Im confused too haha. Let me try to explain again. When I set up the initial campaign, I was not sure if I should choose Popunder or Popup. Because like matuloo said, they're different ad types so I was not sure which would perform better so I figured I should split test them. So I copied and made 2 camps, 1 for popup and 1 for popunder. Now Amy is saying I didnt need to do that because I can choose both (although I am still not sure how to do that in PopAds). Anyway because I could not wait for a reply on this thread, I ran the the 2 camps for about 48 hours and they both literally performed the same. So for now I paused the Popup camp and only running the Popunder camp. So I guess my question now is, how can I choose both options in the settings?

You can't choose both. Just make 2 campaigns

Haha...this is turning out to be one big confusion!

When I said you could choose both, I meant you didn't need to split-test popunders vs. popups, and then cut the worse one and keep the better one. You can keep running both for as long as they're both profitable. I did NOT mean you can target them both in the same campaign - as eddie has pointed out, you can't target both in popads anyway.

If you're still in the testing stage and still in the red, it would probably be better to just run popunder because that's usually where the traffic volume is and you need traffic in order to test. You're right in pausing the popup camp because there'd be little point in losing more money by running both camps.

Hope that collectively, we've answered what originally must have been a simple question!
